During Top 4 competition running against Yoshihara, Darren drifted off line and made contact with the immoveable guardrail causing damage that required major suspension component replacement both front and rear. It was a team effort like I've never seen." Other notable accomplishments include Justin Pawlak’s 4th place qualifying and Top 8 finish, Ross Petty’s 6th place qualifying and Top 16 finish and Tyler McQuarrie’s door-to-door battle with current championship points leader and Falken team mate, Vaughn Gittin Jr. during the Top 16 rounds. Falken Takes 1st and 2nd at 2010 FD Wall Speedway
Team Falken’s Daijiro Yoshihara scored his second victory in a row at Round 3 of the Formula Drift Championship in New Jersey. Dubbed "The Gauntlet", Wall Speedway is known for its unforgiving course layout and harsh banked turn to in-field transition. For Falken, although a repeat of 2009’s Wall podium sweep was just narrowly missed, a Déjà Vu top 2 finish from this year’s Round 2 at Road Atlanta set Yoshihara and Vaughn Gittin Jr. once again on top of the podium with very close one, two finish. Vaughn in the ASD built Monster Energy / Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang continues to lead the series followed by Dai in his Discount Tire / Falken Tire Nissan Silvia S13 built by SPD Metalworks.

2009 Formula D Round 5 - Falken Tire at Evergreen Speedway
Amid tough competition all day long, two Falken drivers advanced to the Top 8 Round, as both McQuarrie and Gittin defeated their opponents to move to the Top 4. Unfortunately, Gittin was involved in a collision during this run and was unable to advance, while teammate McQuarrie lost to eventual winner Forsberg. In the battle for third overall, it was Team Falken v. Team Falken, as McQuarrie came out on top over Gittin, who was able to compete despite his accident in the previous round. The event’s trademark nickname, “Breaking Point,” lived up to its reputation as a number of entrants became casualties to the track’s banking and tight transitions throughout the course. Team Falken Tire Sweeps New Jersey
Performance and preparation paid off as Team Falken Tires factory drivers swept the podium at Wall Speedway in Saturday nights round 3 of the 2009 Formula Drift season. Darren McNamara took the top rung in his Saturn Sky; Vaughn Gittin, Jr., earned second with his 2010 Ford Mustang GT; and Tyler McQuarrie finished third, driving his Nissan 350Z.

 The achievement was historical as this was the first time ever for three Team Falken cars to take the top three positions as well as the first time one team has dominated the podium.

 Wall Speedway, aptly named The Gauntlet, is a 16-degree banked oval along the straightaway with 30 degrees on the turns before moving to the figure 8 infield portion of the course. The capacity crowd witnessed strong competition among Team Falken and other Formula D competitors as skies and rain cleared allowing for ideal door-to-door high speed battles. Five drivers using Falken Azenis RT615 tires advanced to the top 16. In the finals, Gittin, Jr., stood up against McNamara with McNamara ultimately taking the win in a close fought match.
