The Wall Of Death~

February 24th, 2010

Wall of death

Ever since i saw this picture i have been obsessed with it. The wall of death as it was called showed up on the traveling carnival circuit and was obviously a massive hit. Especially in the troubling times of the of the first world war and the dust bowl. At one time there were up to 100  ”motordromes” traveling the country thrilling audiences.

This video is pretty well produced and shows you the physics of the wall of death.

Enjoy!

Icon Wall of death video

“Wall of Death riding is simple physics. If you ride fast enough on the wall’s inner surface, centrifugal force causes you to defy gravity and stick to the boards. Riders start on the flat floor, progress to an inclined ramp that bridges the floor and wall as they build up speed and then move onto the vertical surface. It takes a speed of about 30 miles-per-hour to stay on the wall, Sandra said and most performances top out at about 45″

An amazing weekend at VIR! Quest for the sword!

October 15th, 2009

Clubloose /Lookout Drift / Drift Indy… recently had a really really awesome event at VIR in Virginia.

We ran the patriot course a 1.1 mile road course nestled on the VA/NC border. The track really took care of us and put us up in sweet campers for the weekend, everyone had a blast. 3 days of fun/competition drifting really takes it toll on ya. I am finally just recovering and getting to post about how awesome it was.

This event was the finals for SO-RAD or the Society Of Regional American Drifting. We had a head to head competition, Team Drift Comp and Early entry contest! Shit was amazing. Afterwards we sang karoke.

There can only be one.

The loudest car on earth

August 14th, 2009

So every now and again we have a cool car on our dyno at work. Here is one of the coolest and loudest. It is an MG “Elva” Tube frame race car. This one is powered by a SOHC MG motor with the baddest set of headers i have ever seen.
Here is a stock picture of to give you and idea what they look like with panels on.

With that said , this car is so loud you can hear it a couple miles away. This car is the automotive equivelant to a rape, violent, scary, mean. The owner is Ray Kraftson of PA. He races the car locally in vintage classes. A pretty badass car. I will edit this with some dyno numbers once he changes Carbs (the purpose of his dyno session). Here are some pics of this car form Justin Mondeschein.

Blog 2 Blog….. Pt. 1… Al Lagura

June 23rd, 2009

So i was thinking of easier ways to update my blog.. I always take all these pictures but have a hard time getting it on here. I just dont have the time i wish i had…. Anyway, with my crying out of the way here is a new segment im trying out its called Blog 2 Blog… I realize i spend alot of time reading blogs my friends write when i should really be writing my own… But who cares about me anyway? So here is what im gonna do. Every couple weeks i will do Blog 2 Blog and show you the peoples blogs i follow. These are friends i have made and the story involved in me meeting them.  I know “blogroll”on the sidebar —->

should be where i go but i have other friends and check other blogs. So for the first installment i give you the blog of Al Lagura….and the story.

When i first got into drifting for serious i got a corolla. I used to troll on Club4AG to find out stuff about the drift car i had. Back then the site was pretty small. While on there i started correspond via email and IM with various dudes who also had corollas. This was like 2002 ish so drifting in the USA was in its infancy. Al was a Cali dude who helped me out on many occasions.Al was ALWAYS getting into trouble on C4AG with the curse filter and calling out initial D fanboys. We finally Met when i made my Journey to Irwindale with Tony and Chris for the FIRST D1 USA… We were tired and cranky and al and I hugged High fived then parted ways. We still stay in contact as much as possible..But here is his how i stay up on whats going on with AL.

AL FATLACE BLOG!

So read about AL Lagura and tell him his ruckus is sick… Cause it is.

Later!
