Review coming soon…
I’ve been waiting for a different variety of drift game to come to the iPhone for a while. I’ve played Ridge Racer, NFS: Shift, and some Ferrari game aswell. They’re all good in their own right, but I still wanted something different. I just came across this game called Drift Sumi-e that was developed in part by Calvin Wan and his friend Capati.
First of all, it combines art, which is right up my alley, but also the ‘elegance’ of a perfect drift line around a course. Have a look.
This game looks cool. It doesn’t have the in your face action that many games contain, but it does seem to capture the essence of drifting, a key point. This should be in the app store this week.

On Dec 8th, Turn 10 will be dropping an 11 car DLC pack, again, for free. The pack will include the 2010 Audi S4 as well as the highly anticipated Ferrari 458 Italia.
Just picked up some info that 3 new cars will be released for Forza 3 on Nov. 17th via a free DLC car pack.
2010 Genesis Coupe ‘SPECIAL’ [Hyundai Genesis Coupe Pack/FREE/Nov.17th'09]

2010 HKS Genesis Coupe [Hyundai Genesis Coupe Pack/FREE/Nov.17th'09]

2010 Rhys Millen Racing Red Bull Genesis Coupe [Hyundai Genesis Coupe Pack/FREE/Nov.17th'09]

So now we have some official drift cars in the game, not just liveries.
With GT5′s release put off until march 2010 and still only in japan, and NFS shift’s limited cars and still arcadish physics, forza is the way to go. The demo is out and it rocks, I’m already in the top 50 on the drift leader board and I’m diggin’ it. The next 29 days can’t go by fast enough.
And don’t forget to download the demo of Forza 3 on Sept. 24…link
I hope Joey’s new mercedes will take a stab at maneuvers like these…
All wrapped up on my end. Time for our man Jason to take the reigns and flashify it all. I wonder what other ways we could flashify it…maybe add some easter eggs somewhere in the issue and the first 5 to find them get a prize or something. That’d be cool, right?
On another note…I was able to apply some of my newly acquired illustrator skills to this issue…nothing really fancy except the title on the D1 spread. But even that isn’t anything special. But I definitely was loving the text tool in illustrator compared to the one in photoshop. Much more versatile and easy to use.
Also in the issue is a new K&N ad. It got approved in first draft form, which doesn’t usually happen when doing this kind of design. But with each ad I complete for a company, the better the design gets…usually. That’s always a good thing.
Anyways, hope you enjoy it. And stay tuned to wreckedmagazine.com for all you sideways news.
