Last night there was a great open house at the ID Agency in DTLA. I had some photos featured in the art gallery along with Estevan Oriol and Mo Satarzadeh. All three of us were on the 2009 Gumball 3000 rally and had some photos featured from it along with some of our other photography.
Here is a display of my photography hung up on the wall.
Here is the DJ with a great crowd going behind him at the Open House. Mo’s photography is stage left and you can see my Vaughn Gittin Jr. print over on the right.
Here is a close up of my T-Pain photograph I took years ago at his house next to Vaughn Gittin’s 2005 Sonoma drifting picture.
Here I am receiving Ricky’s special beer delivery. Not only is Ricky great at beer delivery he is an excellent photographer that does tons of work for Wrecked Magazine! The Corona was for him and the Bud Light was for me. It ended up being a great night and I really appreciate all the support of people who came out. Thanks to Bob Hernandez for these photos he put up on Facebook and I will make new posts when other people send me or put up some photographs.
On Sunday before SpoCom I met up with Steve Goldfield who drove this Maserati Gran Tursimo S on the 2009 Gumball rally. We did a Gumball driver profile with him at our sister website www.luxuryvice.com. We shot the car right by my house on Sunset Blvd. at the old Sunset Beach location. After a quick shoot I was off to SpoCom which you can find here on Wrecked Magazine http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/blog/2009/06/15/spocom-2009-gallery/. A busy Sunday that ended up with us watching the NBA Finals at Smooth’s in Long Beach as the Lakers took home the championship.
Here is the video of us being pulled over in Holbrook, Arizona. We got clocked speeding and after issuing us a citation they opted to remove our license plate and keep it in their possession. What a mess that was but we were able to keep on Gumballing with no impound.
Well the Gumball 3000 is over and sad to say I wish I was still on the open road with 120+ cars driving somewhere. Next year’s rally seems so far but I am going to have to make it from rally to rally it looks like. If you want photograph overload of my work you can visit www.luxuryvice.com for thousands of my photos I took on the Gumball 3000 rally. If you want to hear my story in detail check out www.speedhunters.com for my diary of the rally. Below I just posted up 10 photos I really loved from the Gumball 3000 so check it out.
I am driving Car #109 on the rally with my co-pilot Victor from ID Agency. We leave Santa Monica Saturday morning and you can follow me all week over at LuxuryVice.com.
The Gumball 3000 is around 48 hours away and the Bentley is almost done being wrapped. Tomorrow it’s getting the Gumball decals on it and Friday we are ready for Santa Monica. My new co-pilot (I have gone through about 7) is now Victor Carillo from the ID Agency. More updates coming soon and the Lambo almost has it’s orange camo wrap on so pictures will be up soon of her as well.
If you follow me on twitter (www.twitter.com/joeyredmond) you would of seen that I spotted a Gumpert Apollo today on Fairfax Ave. by my house. I was on the phone (hands free CHP) and screaming and annoyed with traffic that the car past me so fast I hardly realized what I just saw.
With that being said I didn’t score any photos but I figured with some Internet research I could find out about this Gumpert Apollo. Someone spotted it about 5 months ago at the Fatburger down the street from me on Santa Monica Blvd. (FYI that Fatburger is amazing)! Matching the plate it appears this is the same one that ran on the 2008 Gumball 3000 in May from San Francisco, California to Beijing, China.
After doing some research on who drove the Gumball 3000 Gumpert Apollo (assuming this was the same one, now painted orange from black) it is driven by Mr. Moto AKA Reza from Teckademics fame. You would recognize him from some of the older films when he traveled with Dado and Dustin in the older films. Here is Reza’s website (http://www.mrmota.com/).
That is my detective work for the day! It looks like 10 were sent to the USA and a shop called Evolution Motorsports in Arizona is the only approved shop to work on the cars by Gumpert. Thanks to Team-BHP and Jarod DeAnda (Gumball 3000) for some information to help out.
The first day was a short one due to some horrible weather in Mississippi. Before leaving I had to have a last meal of just some southern food goodness which I scored at Daddy D’z, I recommend it to any Atlanta traveler.
After finally leaving Atlanta we headed east on I-20 until veering off at night on Alabama 78. Then quickly onto the future 22 and into Tunica, Mississippi. Here are some snaps from along the way.
