Jon from Maisto Toys was kind enough to deliver us a huge pile of them the other day and I wanted to show off the ones I really liked for my toy shelf. The first toy I checked out was this 1:18 Nissan GT-R in the factory white pearl color.
The second toy was a yellow C5 Corvette Z06 which was from the “Assembly Line” toys. These are a blast and you can put together with a simple screw driver they provide in box. This one was much harder than the Mercedes-Benz CLK GT-R I built recently because the rear window/roof/windshield/engine are all one piece you clip in. You even get an option of wheels to install and I went with the chrome factory style Z06 wheels.
My favorite car of the lot was this 1:18 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren which I reviewed over at Luxuryvice.com. This is by far the most amazing car ever built (and I want one really bad) and the diecast really captures the true essence of this car. These will all be finding a new home on the toy shelf soon and I might have to buy another shelf fairly soon.
I haven’t blogged in a little bit and I wanted to share my thoughts on this video. This really looks like a lame attempt at IRL to gain some press and recognition. I don’t care that “it is in the rulebook,” this is why your series sucks and we all stay up until the wee hours of the morning to watch Formula 1.
Wimbledon got started today and DirecTV has court cameras now to watch all the matches! I have been quite on the tennis kick lately and really started playing again with some PM Lifestyle employee’s and other various friends. It looks like a great line up is in store, especially on the woman’s side.
I will be cheering on Maria Sharapova in the series. Ever since her shoulder injury she hasn’t been 100% but I have some high hopes for her over this tournament. She made it into the third round earlier this year at the French Open so hopefully she can do better. She is playing lucky loser Anastasia Pivovarova in the first round who is a fellow Russian. Maria enters Wimbledon as the 16th seed for women.
On the men’s side I have to be rooting for Roger Federer who I think has about 8/5 odds on winning. He is ranked number one in the world right now for men. I really want to root on someone who has more of a challenge making it to the finals but I cannot really bring myself to get behind and support anybody else on the guys side.
Who needs free speech in the Internet? A few months ago I mentioned that the second district court is holding people accountable for what you say in comments of posts. Now Senator Joe Lieberman is trying to pass the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act (PCNAA). Instead of writing all about it I pulled in some information from Switched. It’s quite a shame and hopefully we stand up for our protection from government censorship.
Connecticut Senator, and chairman of the Homeland Security committee, Joseph Lieberman introduced legislation last week that would grant broad new emergency powers over the Internet to the federal government. The Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act (PCNAA) would require broadband providers, search engines, and software companies to comply with emergency orders issued by the Department of Homeland Security under penalty of fine.
Here is a video of a twin turbo Lamborghini Gallardo pulling out of Underground Racing in Charlotte, North Carolina. The car throws some revs that sound fantastic as it pulls out of the shop. This car ran 241mph at Texas Mile.
Here is a video from Michael Waltrip Racing in North Carolina. This was shot from the floor of the shop while we received and all access tour. They have quite an impressive operation over at MWR which run Toyota Camry’s in the Sprint Cup Series.
Here is a quick video of a race restart from our seats during the NASCAR All-Star race. Lowes Motor Speedway is not one of my favorite tracks but the shoot out style NASCAR race keeps the track entertaining. Enjoy the three videos uploaded and I have more content coming from the NASCAR All-Star weekend soon.
I bought a ton of new toys for my shelf recently and had to rearrange everything yesterday. With that being said I decided to document/blog about the upgrades to my living room shelf. I am going to add a new shelf soon to expand the collection. Soon, I am going to pick up all my old toy cars from when I was a little kid to add onto the shelf as well.
I bought a Assembly Line Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR from Maisto which was a blast to build. This is my favorite Mercedes made in history so it was great to add to the shelf with gold wheels.
Here is my Kyle Busch cup garage collection. My three large die cast cars are his #18 M&M car, Snickers Car (First Toyota to win NASCAR cup race), and the Vote M&M car. I am working on getting some more #18 car stuff for this section.
This is my other Kyle Busch garage for non cup die cast cars. The Doosan #20 Nationwide car won the Corona, Mexico event back in April 2008 with Kyle Busch behind the wheel. The #51 Electric Sunglasses car is Kyle Busch’s Prelude of a Dream car. The #30 NOS Energy Drink car in the middle is actually Stanton Barrett’s old Nationwide car from 2008 signed by him on the roof.
Here is my Falken Tire Pit that I mocked up with some products I have collected over the years. I just got this sweet Falken Tire rig thanks to my friends over at Falken Tire recently! You can actually buy the Calvin Wan Infiniti G35 or Vaughn Gittin Jr. Ford Mustang die cast in our store.
Here are some small Hot Wheels cars I have including a Nissan GT-R, Flat Black Lamborghini Gallardo, Tesla Roadster, a Hummer H2 that Toyo Tires gave us at MPMC, and Sam Hubinette’s Dodge Charger you can score in our Wrecked Magazine store as well.
The 1991 Le Mans winner was the Mazda 787B seen here that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1991. This was the last Japanese car to win the 24 Hour Le Mans race to this date in history. Bob Hernandez actually gave me this car at my Photo Gallery back in March and I jut love it.
Here are some of my car magazines including some Super Street issues back from 2002. A full collection of C-16 Magazine, and a bunch of random Japanese magazines like StyleWagon and VIP Style.
Here is the first shelf all together and complete for now. I am going to get a second shelf going soon and I need some more magazines! Let me know what you think.
I’ve been contacted a good bit about my editorial in Issue 15 and most people seem to be puzzled if I am serious. I am dead serious on the fact because I feel it’s a true tragedy going on right now in American Drifting. I have never been one to ruse people with “Buy American” catch phrases or anything in my life just because you know “American is better,” or anything of that nature. I am quite the supporter politically of the dieing “free market” where things are purchased based on quality and merit…..not just from where it is made.
The big issue I am trying to bring up here is not trying to call some people in the series out or point any really fingers at people in the sport. I just want my voice to be heard that so many talented young American kids all over the United States exist and are being looked over with no logical reasoning other than laziness. If your a team owner…..go visit a local grassroots event in your area (where you are stationed they have events close by, I promise) and see what the scene has to offer. I just think at the end of the day I am verbalizing something that everyone else notices but won’t say outside closed doors.
Let’s look for example at the 2009 Formula D Pro Am finals at Irwindale Speedway to finish off my rant. The top three guys at that event were Mike Pollard, Ian Fournier, and Nikolay Konstantinov. Of those three guys none of them have run both Formula Drift events in 2010 and between all three drivers just one of them has been to a Formula Drift event period, Ian Fournier at Long Beach. Of those same three guys one of them has run both rounds of the D1GP Japan series making the event attendance double in D1GP Japan compared to Formula D in the states. Just some things to think about before the 2011 season gets here.
These are two quick teaser videos I shot with my Canon SD1100 photo camera while getting a ride along at Ebisu’s famous Nishi Short Circuit. Wrecked Magazine will have some amazing full video coverage up soon thanks to NOS Energy Drink. For now, here is Chris Forsberg in front of our S14 in that white 180sx with the exhaust bouncing on the ground.
Here is a second video I shot while riding with Chris in his black S14 aas we chased down Andrew from PowerVehicles.com in the video. These are a great preview to how awesome the whole weekend of Spring Matsuri was! A huge thanks is owed from me and Chris Forsberg to everyone at Powervehicles.com and Allen from Tomei for really making our trip amazing!
I know times are tough these days but I would of settled for one queen bed! That foam rectangle you see is wedged between the “two beds” so you don’t notice the huge gap in your King Bed. Well it didn’t quite work but thanks Holiday Inn. You can read more about my adventures like this on Yelp, follow below!
Sorry about this problem guys but we kept thinking it was fixed and it just kept coming back. You will notice a change in how our comment system works which sadly is the only way we could fix this issue. Once you have posted your first comment with name/e-mail and it has been approved all of your other comments will be approved on the system. Sorry for the inconvenience and all the annoying SPAM that went through while we figured out how to fix this. Enjoy Wrecked Magazine!
