Visting SPD Metal Works for an interview with Daijiro Yoshihara

March 30th, 2009

2009 Pre Season Sit Down: Daijiro Yoshiharagood

We made a trip to SPD so we could unveil to the world Daijiro Yoshihara’s new Lexus IS350. With a sponsorship partnership between Discount Tire and Falken Tires they were able to bring on Daijiro Yoshihara from his Pontiac GTO to take on this Lexus. The car was getting it’s finishing touches done at SPD before pre season testing when we came to visit.

Jonathon Bradford from Falken was super accomedating and Daijiro was quite some fun on the microphone with us. These two photos are of this gorgeous Lexus V8 motor that I couldn’t get enough of.

My favorite part about Daijiro Yoshihara’s Discount Tires x Falken Tires Lexus IS350 is the new rear radiator setup. A gorgeous mount job which will prevent putting this car out of comission on a front end collision. If this works out I wonder if the whole Falken team will convert to a rear mount setup.

On Daijiro Yoshihara’s GT Channel blog he posted a photograph of the Wrecked Magazine crew after we shot the interview. Check it out!

Enjoy this piece thanks to NOS Energy Drink’s great viral program NOS TV.

2009 MATS show with Mobil DELVAC

March 27th, 2009

MATS stands for the Mid America Truck Show which is essentially the SEMA for truckers. We flew into Louisville, Kentucky for a four day shoot at the conference with Mobil 1 Delvac. Mobil 1 had one of the best looking and busiest booths at the whole show. They had Sam Hornish Jr’s #77 Penske/Mobil 1 Dodge inside the booth with a NASCAR simulator as well.

I met a trucker with over 4,000,000 miles on his rig who was an owner/operator. He has a business card that says “Professional Clown” and he was making little balloons for people. We put in a request for a more adult focused project and we got this! Some amazing skill in this design right here. I watched him do it and have no idea what he did to have these come together.

To close out the festivites Mobil Delvac threw a huge concert and invited thousands of people to come and enjoy the show. Krista Marie opened the show and then Halfway to Hazard kept the energy going inside the stadium. After a quick intermissions Aaron Tippin came out and headlined the show playing some of his most well known hits.

Here is a photograph of Aaron Tippin and myself before the concert backstage. I wish I took more pictures in Kentucky but I really dropped the ball while out of town. I did do a couple Yelp reviews you can check out:

Filming at Attic – Official Streetwear Store of Formula D

March 26th, 2009

We have been at Attic in Bunea Park, California shooting a 30 second spot for the big screen at Formula D. This is the largest streetwear store I have ever seen in my life. They have almost 100 brands stocked inside this huge store. We have had a blast shooting with these guys over the past few days and will be finishing up filming with the spring sale on March 28th.

If you want to read more about our travels to Attic you can check their photos out on their blog:

DTA Billboard on Crescent Heights

March 25th, 2009

I twittered about this a few weeks ago and I keep passing it since it’s on my way home off I-10 from my new place. Today I snapped a photo of it for all of you DTA x Rogue Status fans out there in the blogoverse. It’s at the intersection of Crescent Heights and 3rd if I remember correctly. Sadly nobody has scaled the building to deface it yet.

Hot Import Nights Anaheim: Preview

March 24th, 2009

We headed down to Hot Import Nights for NOS TV. This is a preview video we released right after the show to get people for the full length one. Some nice slow motion drifting shots from local Pro Am guys and a few clips of Chris Forsberg ripping it up as well. If you visit the website you can watch the video in High Def.

Base Jumping off the Burj Dubai Tower

March 15th, 2009

I just found this video on Digg and had to post it on my blog. BASE jumping has always blown me away but to jump off the Burj Dubai Tower in Dubai (currently the world’s largest building) had to of been insane. Here is a little video of the whole story and make sure to read the text at the very end of the video. I promise I will get caught up on my blogging from my end very soon!

2009 MazdaSpeed Motorsports Luncheon

March 3rd, 2009

Down in Irvine I attended a Mazda event down at HQ in Irvine, California. It was a motorsports luncheon with free In N’ Out Burger which was amazing. Dean Case invited me down and I had a fun time learning about some Mazda information.

They had on display the 700,000th Miata built. I didn’t realize they had produced that many Mazda Miata’s since the inception of the product. I think I am going to hold out and score 987,654 when that comes off the assembly line.

This ProParts USA Mazda 6 is gorgeous and was my favorite car on display for the Mazda event. I love the paint scheme and the cage work was just gorgeous on this car. Part of my love for this Mazda 6 falls under the fact that I secertly really want to own one as well I think.

The event closed with an unveiling of Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle star) will be running in the Mazda Atlantic Championshi series. His title sponsor is a new video game Stargate Worlds and his teamate is Simona De Silvestro. That about wrapped up the day at Mazda!

Car Spotting in LA: Jaguar Mark VIII

March 1st, 2009

The other day I was in Burbank and spotted this Jaguar Mark VIII in a parking deck. The car was made from 1956–1958. In that three year period only 6,227 were produced worldwide! If you want more information on the car I did a little write up on it at our new website.
