New Obsession: Atlanta History

October 6th, 2008

I had a friend from out of town swing by for a few days last month and we visited the Marget Mitchell house along with some other adventures and I have become hooked on the great history of Atlanta. In most of my spare time I have been sifting through great historical websites looking for information and things I didn’t know about downtown. This photo above is actually from 1955 on West Peachtree Street looking south  towards the Biltmore Hotel. A cool thing I just learned is that is housed WSB radio for almost 30 years and that is the reason for the large radio towers on the roof. WSB hasn’t moved far as it’s just down the street. I walk this piece of West Peachtree all the time and it’s pretty crazy to imagine it back in 1955.

Flickr Account – joeyredmond

October 5th, 2008

So finally I have my Flickr account in tip top shape. Spent a good portion of the weekend getting it filled with all of my trips from April to present and I will be updating it daily from the Search Marketing Expo (SMX East) from tomorrow to Thursday and then Irwindale from Thursday to Tuesday. If you have a Flick account make sure to add me! http://www.flickr.com/photos/joeyredmond

Ready for SMX (Search Marketing Expo) East!

October 4th, 2008

Alright so I have been getting excited about the Search Marketing Expo East (SMX 2008) but now I am truly pumped. I leave for New York City tomorrow and I am totally stoked about my schedule. Check out what I will be doing for the next three days. This right now is the tentative schedule I am looking at, I am possibly going to swap some of the meetings around but video, flash, social media, and meeting with Yahoo/Google are my priorities over the mid week conference. I am going to be blogging, twittering, and flickring form the event so you can keep yourself posted. Then from SMX I am headed straight to the House of Drift for Formula D’s main event at Irwindale! What a week this should be.

Good Magazine – Pay what you want subscription!

October 2nd, 2008

Since my last post was about the “Pay your own price” Girl Talk Album I figured I could stay on theme and talk about Good Magazine. They launched a pick your price subscription for it’s magazine and I must say that I subscribed under this plan. I have only purchased two issues up to this point but I must say it’s an enjoyable read. They had a writer travel across the country on trains which I must admit was quite a comical piece as it was such a disaster.

Girl Talk – Feed the Animals

October 2nd, 2008

First off, let’s talk about how this is the first CD I have bought in sometime. Why did I buy this album? Girl Talk and Illegal Art released this album as a “Pay your own Price” CD. You can buy it here Illegalart.com and enjoy the album for any price you see fit. The album and Girl Talk have been gaining tons of attention over the last year. I discovered him at SXSW 2008 and have been a huge fan ever since. Wikipedia has a great entry laying out the whole album and what songs he mixes in it. Plus he has a concert in Atlanta on the 16th at Variety Playhouse. We are pumped to roll out and cause trouble, see everyone then.

EATS – Midtown – Atlanta

October 1st, 2008

EATS is one of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta and somehow I have never managed to review it. If your a JERK CHICKEN fan than you need to eat here and order it, hands down! I find myself always ordering the Turkey Lasagna which is fantastic to say the least. The main reason I cannot give them 5 stars is they have the worst Macaroni and Cheese I could ever imagine possible. Don’t waste your time ordering it as you can find plenty of other tasty items on the menu. However Mac is one of my favorite food items for me so they are going to get docked a little for that one.

Aside from the small parking lot right next to Eats I have always managed to find parking at this location which is a very nice plus. The serving style and decor will remind you of your high school cafeteria but it almost adds to the enjoyment of eating here. Eats is probably your best location for cheap food that actually tastes good. One last tid bit is for frequent American Express users: take note that they only accept VISA and Mastercard.

My September Health and Fitness Report

October 1st, 2008

I made a conscious choice this month to start publishing at the end of every month my daily note on working out. A few notes that I want to make is that I look very lazy over the course of this month but I only noted time in the gym/workout room. None of my swimming time or racquetball and any other activities have not been logged for the whole month of September. I am going to make sure that this month in October I am going to log all athletic activity and hopefully progress into food and some other stuff on this list. My overall goal right now is to land at 180 pounds sometime in 2009. I started this process on the 7th of September. From the 10th to the 30th I went from 226 to 216 which was very cool. Hopefully I can stay on this pace for the new month even though I have a trip to NYC and California.
