If you’ve ever towed a race car, you’ll know that your braking time increases with the added weight of the car and trailer. The addition of our 24″ Giovanni Wheels and Toyo Tires increased braking time as the factory brakes had more rotating mass to stop, and when we towed a car, braking was downright terrifying. Upgrading your brakes is one of the most overlooked aspects of a proper tow vehicle. Larger wheels and the added weight of towing a vehicle contribute to longer braking times and distance, and without a proper brake upgrade, you could be looking at a world of hurt.

To combat this, Performance Friction Brakes sent over their Z-Rated brake kit for all four corners of Project Tahoe. The brake kit included their monobloc calipers for the front and rear, massive cross drilled rotors, stainless steel braided brake lines, and their Performance Friction Carbon Metallic Pads to aid the braking process.
Stay tuned as we get this brake kit installed. We’ll be showing you how to properly install this big brake kit, as well as performing some necessary before/after braking comparison tests.
