Vaughn Gittin Jr. Makes A Wild Lap Around Irwindale [VIDEO]

Here is a Vaughn Gittin Jr. lap around the new layout for Irwindale Speedway. He puts in a ton of wheel work on his Ford Mustang RTR to skirt around the course in practice. It is interesting to watch this run and the run of Forrest Wang from the same day and see the work rate difference in the drivers.

Kenneth Moen – Wrecked Weekly Episode #21 [VIDEO]

Wrecked Weekly grabbed a few minutes with Kenneth Moen just before he went out to compete at Super Drift. My co-host was Jacob Leveton chatted with Kenneth Moen about his rivalry with compatriot Fredric Aasbo and the long road to a possible championship. After Kenneth left we continued on to chat about the $100k Triple Crown prize for next season and the 2015 Formula Drift World Championship which are both hot button topics right now in the paddock!

Kyle Mohan’s Big Top 32 Crash with the Wall [VIDEO]

The crash from Kyle Mohan wasn’t easy to capture since he was following behind Robbie Nishida putting out big smoke from his Achilles Radial tire. Regardless, you can clearly see Kyle make big contact with the wall and his wheel spokes shatter with contact at the wall. The wheel ring stayed in tact and the GT Radial SX2 tire didn’t even come dismounted from it!

This weeks Wrecked Weekly gets us a sit down with Tyler Wolfson, a rookie heading into Formula Drift for the first time. Tyler has a Mazda RX-7 which he has retained the 1.3L rotary engine which is pushing out just over 600hp for the 2014 season. Tyler is bringing a large group of sponsors into the series for 2014 including Hawk Brake Pads and Konig Wheels. His title sponsorship comes from the tire company GT Radial who is also a rookie in Formula Drift where they are set to debut their new SX2 tire.

TylerWolfson.FormulaDrift.GTRadial

2014 Formula Drift rookie Tyler Wolfson is set to debut his Mazda RX-7 at Round 1 Streets of Long Beach in just about a month. He is bringing GT Radial on board as his title sponsor and will be running the Champiro SX2 for the season. His RX-7 has an awesome design for 2014 and has brought on partners such as Konig Wheels and Hawk Performance Pads. Tyler will be bringing the 13B to Formula Drift while only making 600hp and 450 ft. lbs of torque. He will have quite a battle in the rookie ranks for 2014 Rookie of the Year this season.

Odi Bakchis Heads to Nitto Tire for 2014 [RUMORMILL]

OdiBackhis

The tire shake ups of the 2014 Formula Drift season seem to be on the rise or at least rumors about them coming as we sit with less than 40 days until Formula Drift Streets of Long Beach. The report we are hearing is that Nitto Tire has signed Odi Bakchis for 2014 taking him away from his long time partnership with Nexen Tire.

Things have been under going change at Nexen but it is interesting that Odi would be leaving. Especially since he has been the highest performing Nexen driver in Formula Drift history. He almost landed the first Nexen podium at Evergreen Speedway this year but didn’t have a competition timeout to fix his car to run in the final four battle with Fredric Aasbo. We have rumors lingering about Matt Field as well who we know is leaving Maxxis and many people pointed the finger at Nitto as his destination for a tire company as well.
