Here is a few minute in car video from his Pikes Peak practice with his DriftSpeed S15. Yoshioka is one of the few Formula Drift event winners after taking home the original Las Vegas round home in his AE86. He has attacked the Pikes Peak Hillclimb before and the Driftspeed S15 is a great platform for Toshiki Yoshioka. We will see how all the Formula Drift stars including Rhys Millen and Ken Gushi finish up the big weekend.
As the final prep for Seattle wraps up, we’re starting to hear about upgrades to cars that were stuck on the East Coast for the two-month East Coast Swing. Yoshioka tweeted that his car is loaded up for Seattle with over 750hp out of the VQ35 motor, while Essa tweeted that a last-minute dyno pulled off 760hp. Although the tire-to-weight rule has limited the amount of tire the cars are able to put the power through based on the weight of the car, it seems that the power levels of the Formula D cars are skyrocketing this year compared to previous years. Can we call this the Daigo effect?

The siege on Ennis as some called it is now over and it puts the first round of the Pro Drift series in the books. While drifting fires up all over the world you cannot forget about Pro Drift who has developed some serious world caliber talent by the likes of Darren McNamara, James Deane, and Eric O’Sullivan. Sadly James Deane who still runs in the series had a gearbox failure as he pulled up to the line for his first qualifying run paving the way for some others to land on the podium. Here is how the podium finished out for Round 1:

One of our favorite eagle eye readers is Cobalt Griffin who found these photos on the GT Channel Facebook page. During Issue 21 of Wrecked Magazine J Brad told us what was happening to this S15. A big V8 and some serious prep work are going into it as we speak. James Deane needs to get back in this car for 2012 but we highly doubt that is going to happen anytime soon. The car is rumored to hit the Middle East for the 2012 demos with maybe Justin Pawlak or Tyler McQuarrie. This could be an interesting competitor to the market!
One of our friends was driving up the I-15 heading into Las Vegas, Nevada and passed the Falken Tire S15 being pulled by our favorite tow truck (Emergency Hookers) heading to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The car was dropped off over an hour ago to the track and we are not sure what the plans are for the weekend. Justin Pawlak’s Mustang doesn’t sound like it has been fixed as of yet (camshaft broken) and I am waiting from Falken Team Manager to return my call in a few minutes. So I will update this post as I get more information but I do know Tyler McQuarrie has driven RHD before and Justin Pawlak never has before. Not sure what the details of this will be but seems interested they have trailered up a spec legal Formula Drift car to the track. Sadly James Deane is still in Ireland so we won’t be seeing him!
UPDATE at 3:17pm PST: I spoke with J Brad and the Falken S15 is sitting at the track for Tyler McQuarrie in case they cannot get Justin Pawlak’s Ford Mustang fixed.
Ross Petty testing the V8 Rasta S15 at Willow Springs
Formula Drift Long Beach qualifying starts in a few hours but check out this testing video of Ross Petty in his LS7 Nissan Silvia.
