Rolando Alfaro 2015 Season [VIDEO]

One of my favorite Formula Drift Pro Am drivers is named Rolando Alfaro and he has an amazing Nissan 350z and Nissan 240sx drift car. I got to see him in person at Street Driven Tour St. Louis and LS Fest this season. His video recap takes him to the Street of Detroit and other midwest events in 2015.

2015 Midwest Drift Union Round 2 on Streets of Detroit [RESULTS]

MidwestDriftUnion.Detroit

One of the most unique Pro Am events of the season is when Midwest Drift Union invades the streets of Detroit, Michigan each year. Some unique builds like this C6 Corvette showed up to drive making the day even more unique/special in my opinion. Where was that car for Street Driven STL? Kyle Cross took this awesome snap of Shane Whalley chasing down this C6 Corvette in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Here is how the results finished –

1. Riley Sexsmith
2. Shane Whalley
3. Nick Thomas
4. Sam Henry

2014 Midwest Drift Union Round 3 at Kansas City [EVENT RECAP]

Round 3 of the Midwest Drift Union season happened at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. The weather was great despite the signature gusty winds of The Great Plains. The skid pad was utilized at the massive complex as MDU staff wanted to set a track that focused more on speed from start to finish as well as door to door tandems. Simply put, the goal was achieved.

Similar to Round 2 in Iowa last month, practice started off very smooth and it didn’t take long at all to move right in to tandem practice.

Practice went well for all drivers with minimal issues and plenty of solid driving. After qualifying concluded, a great Top 16 was set.
The day’s Number 1 qualifier, Steve Topping, eased his way into the Top 8 by defeating Chance Crooks. MDU’s youngest competitor, David Mesker, faced off against hometown homeboy Mike O’Mara and after going One More Time, Mesker and his 1JZ powere E36 M3 coupe moved on.

2014 Midwest Drift Union Round 2 in Iowa [RECAP]

MDU really took the “midwest” part of our name to heart this year. We decided in the preseason that we would roll the dice and step out of our comfort zone and trek further west to put some of the racetracks in that part of the country to work.
First on the list was Mid America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, Iowa. It’s in an area so flat that when passing it on the interstate that runs immediately parallel to the track, it’s extremely easy to not even realize there’s a track there. However, even with the simple ambiance of a railroad and corn fields, MAM offers up an outstanding facility, track staff, and extremely rad road course. We knew the risk of going that far west, and the roster reflected that. But as soon as load-in began and the track walk was done, the drivers were hyped and the party began.

The course layout was relatively simple with a drag race entry into 3 back-to-back sweepers, so practice went smooth and the tandem action started early. After a morning full of practice, qualifying went off without a hitch and, as opposed to R1 at Gateway, the Top 16 (actually 15) was set.
