Charles Ng bought the Gardella Racing Solstice [SNAPSHOTS]

Charles Ng was seen last night drifting the old Gardella Racing V8 Solstice that was for sale a few months back. We had heard rumors that Ng had potentially bought the car, but the car broke cover last night in Norcal at the Sonoma Drift event. Ng is in town for the WTCC event next weekend, and he used the opportunity to do some testing in his new drift car. Will he be making a return to FD soon?

Product Spotlight – Mobil 1 Racing 0w-50

Mobil 1 is the official oil of NASCAR but also is the official oil of Formula Drift! On top of that partnership they have been partners with Wrecked Magazine since virtually day 1 and they wanted to share some information about the racing oil line. The Mobil 1 brand supported the last two champions Dai Yoshihara and Vaughn Gittin Jr. along with Ryan Tuerck at Gardella Racing and the whole Falken Tire fleet.

Mobil 1 Racing 0W-50 is a fully synthetic motor oil specifically designed to
maximize horsepower in a wide range of race engine applications, including
highly loaded flat tappet designs used in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
Mobil 1 Racing oils were engineered to help on-track vehicles reach the
peak of their performance potential.

A Tradition of Racing Excellence
Mobil 1 Racing oil technology has been developed using our extensive
experience in premier automotive racing series around the world,
such as Formula 1, NASCAR, Le Mans, IRL, NHRA, Formula 3, SCCA GT and
ALMS and is also the official motor oil of Formula Drift. The variety of
demands that each racing series requires of a lubricant help us ensure
that Mobil 1 Racing oils can meet the extreme conditions encountered on
the race track.

Engineered for the Track
These next-generation Mobil 1 Racing oils use race-proven, fully synthetic
technology used in racing applications around the world. The formulations
utilize low viscosity synthetic base oils and high levels of anti-wear
components to help maximize power output while not sacrificing engine
protection. Mobil 1 Racing oils are engineered to deliver performance
and protection for the most demanding race conditions, including
circle track, drag, drift, sprint and road racing.

Features and Benefits of Mobil 1 0W-50
• Recommend for applications where a higher viscosity and thicker oil
film are required such as longer duration races where heat build-up
may be an issue.
• Recommended for a wide range of race engines including highly loaded
flat tappet designs.
• Boosted levels of anti-wear protection (zinc/phosphorus) well beyond
those of ordinary automotive oils.
• Exceptional high-temperature protection in high RPM engine operation,
even at temperatures up to 500° F (260° C).

Is Gardella Racing Returning to Formula Drift in 2012? [RUMORMILL]

Some huge questions have been surrounding the Gardella Racing program and if it will be at Formula Drift for 2012. With just over a month until Formula Drift Streets of Long Beach it seems like this team might not be attending the season opener or the 2012 season at all. Gary Gardella was reached out to by us and we have received nothing back from him.

Here is what we know in a quick little paragraph. For starters Nitto Tire just shot out a press release listing all the teams they are partnering with in 2012 and Gardella Racing wasn’t on the list. They don’t seemingly have a driver signed for the new year. We rumormilled about a partnership with Tyler McQuarrie and Gardella Racing as early as last October but we have confirmed that Tyler hasn’t signed a driver contract to date.

We have been told through other people (so completely hearsay) that Redbull Energy Drink walked away from the program at the end of 2011. The other big sponsor of the program Mobil 1 cannot confirm either way or tell me anything about the program. All in all it sounds like the team has had some big changes and struggles this off-season. Regardless of what the reality is we hope the team will show up in 2012 and perform well with a top driver.

Tyler McQuarrie Has No Signed Contract for 2012 [CONFIRMED]

Today a magazine has been reporting that Tyler McQuarrie has a deal signed for 2012 and we have confirmed that is not the case at this current time. To catch you up back in the beginning of October he was left go from Falken Tire at the end of the 2011 season. Then we found out he was in New Jersey visiting Gardella Racing which he has continued to be linked with during this off-season. I have confirmed the two teams are still in talks so the deal is not dead but Tyler McQuarrie’s manager confirmed that nothing has been signed either. That about sums up the report but just wanted to confirm that other media outlets are reporting incorrect information this morning. Good luck to Tyler landing a deal for this new season!

Daigo Saito Hanging Out with Team Owner Gary Gardella

Former D1GP champion Daigo Saito was seen all around LVMS this past weekend. In fact, he was even spotting for Robbie Nishida who performed amazing this weekend in his Silvia. This photo with team owner Gary Gardella gives us hope that he can provide a ride for the D1GP champion a ride in 2012. He has been rumored and rumored to come stateside time and time again. We do know he has some spare chassis sitting around the shop back home in New Jersey so maybe he could field a ride for both of these guys in 2012?

Eric O’Sullivan – Gardella Racing Interview [VIDEO]

Eric O’Sullivan’s Gardella Racing Application Interview

Check out the video application that got Eric O’Sullivan started along his path that brought him into Gardella Racing for 2011. The video has some great insights on EOS and his quest to continue on in the United States doing Formula Drift. In fact, he has now moved to New Jersey full time and left Ireland behind.

Eric O’Sullivan Added to Gardella Racing for 2011 [CONFIRMED]

The Drivers Search for Gardella Racing has come to a close and Gary Gardella has picked a new driver for the 2011 season. That driver is Irishman Eric O’Sullivan who has a ProDrift championship and two years of Formula Drift experience under his belt. We are not quite sure what car Eric will be in for the new season. We still stand by our Nitto Tire rumor that we reported on earlier and that the team will be leaving Maxxis to partner with Nitto for the 2011 season. Congrats to Eric O’Sullivan for winning the Drivers Search and we hear an official release should be out this week from Gardella Racing.

Who Do You Want to See Driving For Gardella Racing in 2011?

This topic has been the result of traffic, controversy, and the pride of nations over the last few months. Between Ireland, Canada, and Texas each driver seems to have quite a vocal following that Gardella has eliminated this program to. Instead of wondering who would be the most popular driver for the job I went ahead and made a poll so we can see where the voters really stand. So who do you want piloting a car for Gardella Racing in 2011?

Gardella Racing’s Bruce Soltys Passed Away This Weekend RIP

Everyone on the paddock recognizes Bruce Soltys from the Gardella Racing crew. He has been Gary Gardella’s truck driver for over five years from drag racing into drifting and when you visited the Gardella Racing pits he never lacked things to talk about. He also was making some delicious food in the pits that he was desperate to feed you anytime you were around the Gardella Racing/Mobil 1 rig. Replacing him for the 2011 Formula Drift season will be an impossible task for Gary Gardella and regardless of who it is we will always miss Bruce at the track.

Gardella Racing/Ryan Tuerck Going to Nitto Tire in 2011? [RUMORMILL]

It hasn’t even become 2011 and the rumors have been flying around the paddock this off season. More than one person has tipped me off to this possibility for 2011 so I figured I would share this with everyone. It doesn’t look/sound like a contract has been signed but they are apparently in talks with each other for the Formula Drift season in 2011. Quite frankly I was shocked the New Jersey based team wasn’t announced as part of Team Hankook at the 2010 SEMA show with Chris Forsberg, Rhys Millen, and Ken Gushi. What do you guys think about Nitto Tire and Ryan Tuerck in 2011?
