2015 Formula Drift Awards – Top Qualifier of the Year – Fredric Aasbo

FredricAasbo

Fredric Aasbo took home Top Qualifier of the year which just took the highest qualifying percentage of each driver produced from qualifying of seven rounds total. His dominance of the year included qualifying which helped him seal up his first championship. Other drivers with great qualifying runs this year included Forrest Wang but he suffered a bad score in Orlando which most likely knocked him out of the running for this award. Chris Forsberg was also another close mention to take home this prize but was edged out by the 2015 champ.

2015 Formula Drift Awards – Comeback of the Year – Dean Kearney

DeanKearney

Dean Kearney made the biggest comeback of the 2015 Formula Drift season with his wild performance in New Jersey. The comeback of the year is based on a driver qualifying at a terrible rank and then finishing the highest in the event. Basically, you are calculating the positions between your qualifying score and finishing result. Dean Kearney won with a score of 19 place improvement at Wall Speedway. He finished the event in 2nd but managed to only qualify 21st. Congrats to him for winning this Formula Drift Award in 2015.

2015 Formula Drift Awards – Most Improved Driver – Alec Hohnadell

The Formula Drift Award Banquet kicked off right after Irwindale Speedway and we have all the awards incoming in the next few posts. The first one is Most Improved Driver for the 2015 season. This is calculated by where a driver finished in 2014 compared to where he finished in 2015. Alec finished 31st in 2014 and closed out this season in 10th moving up 21 championship places.
