Gas Monkey Energy Drink Sponsors Dean Kearney for Texas

Dean Kearney and Bridges Racing announced a new co-title partnership with Gas Monkey Energy Drink for the Texas round of Formula Drift, taking place this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. The Gas Monkey brand has grown rapidly in the past few years behind the popularity of the TV Show “Fast n Loud”, and the brand has gotten more involved with racing over the past few years. Gas Monkey also has worked on several high profile Dodge / Mopar builds, which goes hand-in-hand with the lone Dodge Viper on the Formula Drift grid.

The partnership will expand the number of energy drinks involved with Formula Drift drivers up to five as Gas Monkey Energy joins Monster Energy, Rockstar Energy, Red Bull, and NOS Energy Drink as title or co-title sponsors on the current Formula Drift grid. The newly-revealed livery looks fantastic!

2015 Formula Drift Awards – Comeback of the Year – Dean Kearney

Dean Kearney made the biggest comeback of the 2015 Formula Drift season with his wild performance in New Jersey. The comeback of the year is based on a driver qualifying at a terrible rank and then finishing the highest in the event. Basically, you are calculating the positions between your qualifying score and finishing result. Dean Kearney won with a score of 19 place improvement at Wall Speedway. He finished the event in 2nd but managed to only qualify 21st. Congrats to him for winning this Formula Drift Award in 2015.

Dean Kearney Takes on Road Atlanta [VIDEO]

The Thirsty Film team captured a highlight reel of Dean Kearney performing in his Oracle Lighting Dodge Viper. The Achilles team has been adapting and building this Dodge Viper chassis over the past couple seasons has been huge! Dean Kearney carries some great sponsors such as SPEC Clutch to help with the difficulty of developing this chassis.

Dean Kearney Shows Off Oracle Lighting Dodge Viper for 2015

Dean Kearney debuts his new look Dodge Viper for the 2015 Formula Drift season. I really like the new black/red livery he has going on and it seems a nice change in wheel choice from this render as well. We have been told Dean and team has made some serious changes to the build during this off-season but not a ton of information has been given to us on exactly what has been reworked. He is carrying some partners such as SPEC Clutch, BC Racing, and AEM.  Dean’s program remains on the Achilles Radial program for tires and continues to carry Oracle Lighting as a title sponsor. Dean was my pick for one of the most improved drivers of 2014 and I think he could make a Top 10 finish for the season if he and the car improved over the off-season.

Vote for Dean Kearney’s 2015 livery

Dean Kearney’s title sponsor Oracle Lighting is holding a poll on their Facebook Page to help choose the livery for the 2015 Formula D season. Both liveries were designed on Forza, and these two finalists were narrowed down from several other entries. Both entries have some clear influences from previous liveries that both Kearney and Sam Hubinette have worn on previous Dodge Viper drift cars. Which design do you like better?

2014 Formula Drift Most Improved Driver of the Year – Dean Kearney

Dean Kearney won Most Improved Driver of 2014 which was based on improvement in championship standings. Dean Kearney was sitting in 29th place at the end of the 2013 Formula Drift season and managed to drive himself into 8th place this year. A 21 place jump in the season standings earned Dean this award in his Oracle Lighting x Achilles Dodge Viper.

Dean Kearney to compete in MG Crash Repairs S15 in IDC [NEWS]

Dean Kearney announced today that he’ll be competing in the Irish Drifting Championships (IDC) in the MG Crash Repairs S15. Kearney won the Pro Drift European Series championship in 2009, while MG Crash Repairs won the Pro Drift championship in 2012 with Brendan Stone behind the wheel (pictured above). MG Crash Repairs is the same team that loaned a car to Dai Yoshihara back in 2012 at ProDrift, where Dai won second only behind teammate Brendan Stone. Kearney mentioned in his press release that the car will have a 550hp RB26 motor, which is a pretty big change from his supercharged 8.3L Dodge Viper which he competes in for the Formula Drift championship in the US. The car is a fresh build, not the same car that Stone used in the ProDrift championship.

Kearney released a quote as well, shown below:

I’m really looking forward to having the opportunity to compete in my native country again” said Dean Kearney.

“Ive been pretty much out of the Irish drift scene for 4 years now with FD commitments but I’ve always followed the scene very closely and attended several events while home as a spectators. The Irish drivers have proven themselves to be some of the strongest drivers in Europe time and time again, So having the opportunity to come back and compete in a proper competition car was always important for me. I’ve always admired the prep of MG Crash Repairs S15’s so when the opportunity came about it was pretty much a no-brainer. I started my career in a RHD S-chassis car, so it will be good to get back to my roots after competing so long in the Oracle Lighting Dodge Viper in the US. We will be testing before this weekend gets underway so I can get re-accustom to sitting on the other side of the car again.

All in all, I’m looking forward to this weekend and hope I can do Mark and the Team proud.

Dean Kearney profile video from Seattle [VIDEO]

Although Dean Kearney didn’t have the best result from Seattle due to not qualifying, this video gives us some insight into the brains under the helmet of the Oracle Lighting Viper. Kearney says he’s committed to making progress both with the car and as a driver. We saw some glimmers of hope in New Jersey, and have seen the car continue to improve through the season. This is one of the better-produced event recap videos we have seen this season!

Dean Kearney Has Transmission Issues – Could be Out for Weekend

The luck of the Irish didn’t seem to follow Dean Kearney over the weekend when he arrived in New Jersey. The Dodge Viper has been hit with a transmission issue leaving them scrambling to find a Tremec piece this eveningIf you know where they can track one down tonight in New Jersey drop Dean or one of his team members a line on Facebook. Qualifying kicking off at 2:30pm I imagine they can also find one in the morning and get Dean on the track for his two runs no problem.

Dean Kearney replaces a failed Head Gasket hours before FD Palm Beach

Just hours before practice is scheduled to start in Palm Beach, Dean Kearney had issues with the head gasket on his Oracle Lighting Dodge Viper. The team has replaced the gasket and the car is back together ready for practice today. Sounds like it was a long night for the team, but Kearney noted that a backup plan of ‘borrowing’ a motor from a rental Viper may have been an option at one point. We’re glad to see Kearney has the car back together, and hope he does well this weekend after the string of issues with the car.
