Chris Forsberg’s 2013 Formula Drift Livery – Flat and Gloss [FIRST LOOK]

Chris Forsberg showed off his 2013 livery for the first time today at the Formula Drift Media Day after showing some teasers on his Instagram. The Nissan 370z is painted and involves a mix of flat and gloss paints from BASF. Here are some more photographs of the 370z and minor changes we noticed when walking around the car today.

Here is Chris running the modern Formula Drift  #64 door plate with Andy Laputka setting up a SLR camera inside for some of his practice runs.

Like many drivers in the series Chris has swapped over to KW Suspension in the past few seasons providing him witha ton adjustability and custom options for his setup.

Chris is actually running one of the smaller cubic inch V8 engines on the Formula Drift grid. He currently is running a full race Nissan engine borrowed from a former truck series and the guys at MA Motorsport has put even more tuning and power through it. Chris was telling me today that this engine is the highest horsepower naturally aspirated Nissan motor you can find on the planet.

Here is Chris sitting inside his new Recaro seat he swapped in to run for the 2013 season.

All in all it seems like Chris has made some advancements with his program for 2013. He also added Corey Hosford with his Ksport 350z making CFR a two car team for the new year adding to the challenges they will be facing in the new year. What do you think of his new look!?

ACT Unveils Twin-Disc Race Kit for KA24DE and SR20DET Engines

ACT Clutch has announced today they will be introducing a new twin-disc clutch kit for the 1989-1998 Nissan 240sx engine platforms KA24DE and SR20DET. The twin-disc for each engine has its own part number but both of them carry a torque capactiy of 770 ft.-lbs! They support tons of Formula Drift drivers including Ryan Tuerck and Tyler McQuarrie who put their products to the test at the highest level of drifting.

The ACT 7.25” race twin-disc clutch kit for each engine offers Nissan enthusiasts a race-ready, direct bolt-in kit that requires no modifications. These twindisc clutch kits feature a pressure plate, two sintered iron discs, a XACT Prolite flywheel, release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool.

The XACT Prolite flywheels are a one-piece Chromoly construction with machined slots to provide the lowest inertia and best throttle response. In addition, ACT’s XACT flywheels can be cost-effectively resurfaced.

Both the SR and K20 ACT race twin-disc kits are dynamically balanced as an assembly for trouble-free use. Both kits have an overall weight of 16 pounds, which is a 53 percent decrease in weight compared to the stock 34-pound kit. Below are some details on each kit:

SR20DET Twin-Disc Kit- Part #T1RR-N02 / Clamp Load Increase – 52% / Pedal load 20% increase over stock
KA24DE Twin-Disc Kit-Part #T1RR-N01 / Clamp Load Increase – 90% / Pedal load 13% increase over stock

Ryan Tuerck’s 2013 Scion FR-S Render Came to Us via FedEx this AM [SPYSHOTS]

A kind an anonymous east coast Wrecked spy sent us this FedEx package with this render of Ryan Tuerck and his 2013 Scion FR-S render and program. The program continues to be on Maxxis Tires and Retaks backpacks running as a title sponsor. Enjuku Racing has stepped up in support of the car along with Garrett Turbo, ACT Clutch, and KW Suspension. Our rumormill post about Ryan Tuerck in 2013 was a little off as we guessed he would be powering the FRS with a Chevrolet LS engine. Instead they are building a 2JZ-GTE engine that will be making over 700whp we have heard from some others. What do you think about the revamped program for Ryan Tuerck in 2013?!

Ryan Tuerck Talks ACT Clutches [VIDEO]

Ryan Tuerck sits down and talks about his 2013 season and the abuse you throw down on a clutch as a Formula Drift driver in the modern day series. A pretty cool look back the the Retaks S13.5 that will now be retired for the 2013 season. Whatever engine Ryan Tuerck is putting together for the 2013 season we are sure he will be running top suppliers like ACT for the new year.

Joon Maeng Shows off 2013 Look – Leaves Nitto Tire for Nexen Tire

Looking over at Joon Maeng’s website it looks like he has some small changes to his 2013 program. Joon Maeng shows off his 2013 Nissan 240sx that shows off Nexen Tire. It looks like he retains Lucas Oil, ACT Clutch, and Holley for the new year. Joon seems as focused as ever and ready to take on a new season as a privateer. The Nitto Tire team looks like it will be much smaller this 2013 season compared to years past in number of drivers.
