Here is my review about the Drift Mania game you can download currently in the iTunes store. You can see it has a 2.5 star rating from 506 reviews in the iTunes store currently. My biggest issue on the download side of things is the game takes up 149MB of space on your iPod/iPhone which is huge as far as games go.

This is the main menu of the game. You don’t need practice so man up and just hit the drift button.

Here is the loading screen which shows different Drift Mania images while you wait for the game to load. Sadly you can only select one track and car starting off which didn’t leave me too thrilled. I think that is acceptable in a free game but to pay for a game and only have access to one car is kind of weak. At least give me 3 to 4 to start out with.

Here we are now in game on this drift circuit titled “Beginner” or something of that nature. To screen capture while mid drifting was about near impossible so I got you the best I could cook up. As you can see in the bottom left corner of the game there is an e-brake you can just put a finger on that will really help you scrub speed. You will need it to drift successfully which I learned after a few laps.

To steer you are tilting your iPod/iPhone back and forth to steer the vehicle. At first I found out I was oversteering the car by quite a bit. It should take some minimal rotations to get your self with enough rotation to drift. Then just pull that e-brake we covered with the last image and you should start racking up points.

Here I am mid drift and about halfway on the throttle. The throttle which you can see on the right side of the screen is touch sensitive. It’s pretty easy to control and the car will de-accelerate once you let off the throttle which is nice instead of it being an on/off switch. You need 25,000 points to get a bronze medal at this track and start unlocking some more goodies so it should take you a good hour or so to get solid enough to put that down in the 3 laps/time frame given.

After you finish your 3 laps the game references some of your high scoring feats through the last map. The function is kind of cool and only lasts for 10-15 seconds. Then you can start drifting again to unlock more goodies. The game is less than $1.00 and should hold your interest for a couple hours so I give it a “go ahead and buy vote.”
