The new game in the Need for Speed franchise comes out at the end of March and is called SHIFT 2 Unleashed. The game hits the stores on March 29th and is a huge improvement from SHIFT. In your garage you will have Vaughn’s 2011 Ford Mustang that won the championship so you can take it out at Irwindale Speedway or Ebisu Circuit at anytime for real like drifting experiences. Here are some words from Vaughn about his role in SHIFT 2, “I am each players’ friend and coach in the game,” Vaughn explains. “I am the guy that gives the player confidence before and during the races, I applaud players when they are killing it, and I yell at them when they are making mistakes.”

We found this nugget on Facebook today showing the Toyota Supra of Fredric Aasbo already wrapped in Team Need for Speed. The car looks pretty identical and colors and scheme to his new 2011 Scion tC. The car is sitting in the pits at the Formula 1 Yas Marina Circuit waiting for next weeks event that we will be at covering for all of our readers!

Well everyone keeps telling me about how boring this off-season it has been but it sure seems like we are being overwhelmed with late news. What I know 100% is Need for Speed has a big announcement going out tomorrow. While my attempts to find out exactly what is coming out early have failed I have been hinted by several people that Fredric Aasbo will be assigned to Need for Speed in 2011. Something else tells us that this Need for Speed announcement might tie in with the news coming up this week from Papadakis Racing.

Need for Speed SHIFT 2 with Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Here is a video featuring Vaughn Gittin Jr. talking you through the Need for Speed SHIFT 2 career mode for the new game that is scheduled for an end of March release. The video even shows off his 2010 Formula Drift championship Ford Mustang so we can assume it will be available in the game.

Need for Speed SHIFT 2 Teaser

Inside the intense video game world of Need for Speed they are already busy producing content and video game play for SHIFT 2 even though Hot Pursuit came out hours ago. This video caught our attention as we noticed Matt Powers (Need for Speed Formula Drift driver) flipping over during a heated race in what looks to be some kind of Porsche. You can also notice Speedhunters photographer Linhbergh Nguyen in the video if you look really close.

It looks like Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is gearing up the marketing machine over in Europe and they have called on Hankook Tire driver Eric O’Sullivan to wrap his car for the new video game being released this holiday season. Unlike Gran Tursimo 5 who has pushed back a release date sometime in 2012 we know that Need for Speed will actually have a game for us to play this holiday season. The new game is a cops versus speeders style like some of the classic Need for Speed titles. Cannot wait to see if we get some footage of Eric O’Sullivan chasing cars down while sliding.

Team Falken Manager Jonathon Bradford took home the Team Owner/Manager of the Year for the 2010 season. He watches over the largest team in the sport currently and had four drivers finish in the top ten. Among those four he took home the first ever championship for Falken Tire in their seven year history as a team in the sport. On top of all that he isn’t half bad at Call of Duty which we hope to start playing with him again on Xbox Live now that the off-season is here.
