Tanner Foust’s Rockstar Scion tC Makes It To Dirt 3 [VIDEO GAME WEEK]

June 15th, 2011

Tanner Foust’s Rockstar Scion tC makes its way into the video game world by becoming the newest DLC for Dirt3. The amount of detail on this car is amazing. Everything on the real car has made it into the game. Yes, It comes with the NASCAR V8 under the hood. 650hp will throw this car sideways easily in the Gymkhana mode. In the car info is shows the drivetrain being RWD… but once you start the race there is a slight bit of power going to the front wheels too.  Sadly its the only mode you are able to use the car on. Shame we cant attempt Rally with it.

Regardless of only being able to use the Scion tC in Gymkhana and it not being truly RWD its an amazing car to drive, and definitely put a smile on my face when I heard the engine rev up to 9k. You can purchase Tanner Foust’s car in the Xbox Live Market Place  for 160 points, and also in the PSN store for $1.99.

DiRT 3 Video Game Review [VIDEO GAME WEEK]

June 8th, 2011

If you miss Tanner Foust as much as we do at Wrecked Magazine we have a way to bring him into your home and not let him leave. You can pick up Dirt 3 online and have Tanner Foust on the way to your house. The #24 Ford Fiesta piloted by Tanner Foust is available in the new game released by Codemasters May 24th.

The game developers added an awesome Gymkhana Mode that allows some maximum hoonage in the car of your choice. The Ford Fiesta’s make a perfect car to terrorize Monaco and other select locations in the game. This new mode allows for you to perform tricks and jumps while scoring points. You can even participate in RallyCross (door to door racing) which you can battle at the LA Coliseum. Playing on the Wrecked Magazine simulator you are compelled to run with the in-car view which is quite improved from DiRT 2.

The traditional racing modes are still available in the game with long haul rally racing across Norway, Kenya, and other breathtaking foreign lands. As you make your way through the career mode you will unlock the RMR Hyundai Genesis PM580. This car is a rocket ship in the game that took us quite some time to get settled in with. It’s speed is so great compared to the starter set of cars that you get inside. Rhys Millen just adds to the Formula Drift love inside DiRT 3 when you make your purchase.

The game adds snow driving and allows racing at night to compliment the new features and graphics. DiRT 2 only had 41 routes and DiRT 3 now boasts over 100+ routes in the new game available for Xbox 360, PS3, and Windows PC. The car also features five decades of rally cars from classic models from Lancia, Mini Cooper and Audi.

Lastly before I hope back in the simulator to play the guys at Codemasters added an extensive multiplayer options and gaming where you can race against up to seven friends. Split-screen multiplayer gaming is also available for all game modes now. Lastly they added a “Party Mode” which will help you pass around your controller when people are over to keep playing for hours with some friends.

X-Games 17 Rally on the Streets of Downtown Los Angeles

May 31st, 2011

In the hunt for the perfect venue they have settled on the roads of downtown Los Angeles outside the Staples Center. The FB of X-Games posted this drawing which shows off the course layout potential/concept they have going right now.

They also noted that the big jump will still be happening. The drivers list currently features Rhys Millen and former driver Tanner Foust on the drivers list. So far no apperance from Sam Hubinette, Stephan Verdier, or ACP on the list at the moment but hopefully Sam will be showing up again because we had a blast watching him in action last year.

Tanner Foust is the Hot Wheels Stunt Driver at the Indy 500

May 29th, 2011

Today at the Indianapolis 500 the diecast car brand Hot Wheels set to break world records by building these insane contraptions that resemble Hot Wheels toys you can purchase at the store. The world record distance jump of 332 feet was completed just a minute ago before the Indy 500 kicks off. The old record was 301 feet so Tanner is easily has defeated that with his successful jump this morning. We are being told by one of the people who watched the jump happen that it is suppose to be aired right after the Indy 500 is over. Congrats to the former Formula Drift champion out having fun at The Brickyard.

Kenny Moen’s 350z Won’t Make Long Beach – Shipping Issues

March 30th, 2011

It looks like we are going to have to wait for the return of Tanner Foust’s two time championship Nissan 350z at Formula Drift. The car was bought by Kenneth “Kenny” Moen and competed over Europe over the past few years. Now with Tanner Foust retired his old car is coming to haunt our sport. Well it was coming but according to sources the car won’t be arriving or be available for Long Beach. Hopefully they don’t use the same company to bring the car to Road Atlanta for Round 2.

2011 Formula Drift Qatar [RESULTS]

March 18th, 2011

Well the Middle Eastern tour of Formula Drift has come to an end in 2011. The podium features some familiar Formula Drift faces and one not so familiar to the US market. Hopefully this was a judging warm up for Long Beach because some of the calls after talking among our office were horrible! The worst was a One More Time with Michael Essa and Fredric Aasbo after Aasbo clearly spun on his lead run. Thankfully Chris Forsberg was a voice of reason when asked what he thought and told it like it was! If this is a preview of Long Beach however we will be looking at plenty of OMT battles to boost up your Fantasy Drift team. Tengku Djan took home second place in his street car S13! Here is how the podium stacked up in Qatar!

1- Tanner Foust
2-Tengku Djan
3- Fredric Aasbo

Formula Drift “Global Challenge” in Qatar within 10 Days

March 8th, 2011

You have probably never heard of Qatar unless you are a soccer fan. They are the little country that just out from Saudi Arabia who stole the 2022 World Cup from the United States of America. Their national soccer team has never qualified for a World Cup since they started trying in the 1970′s but that is another conversation for another day. Seven drivers from the Abu Dhabi event will be driving at the Qatar Racing Club in just 10 days. Here is a list of drivers competing: Chris Forsberg, Tanner Foust, Michael Essa, Tony Brakohiapa, Fredric Aasbo, Mike Whiddett and Daijiro Yoshihara. The event will be streamed live via the DriftStream and will be featured on Formula DRIFT TV on VERSUS as a half-hour special and will be kicking off March 18th.
