2011 LA Auto Show – The RWD Subaru BRZ STI Concept

The 2011 LA Auto Show has presented some awesome cars and one of those awesome rides in the Toyobru whatever collaboration concept we have been promised for what seems like years. The car exceeds my expectations already in looks and we only can hope the production version isn’t this watered down. Scion and Subaru are going to have a showdown trying to sell this one once they hit dealerships. We will get you guys some more information as Subaru releases it. What do you guys think of the concept?

Tanner Foust’s Rockstar Scion tC Makes It To Dirt 3 [VIDEO GAME WEEK]

Tanner Foust’s Rockstar Scion tC makes its way into the video game world by becoming the newest DLC for Dirt3. The amount of detail on this car is amazing. Everything on the real car has made it into the game. Yes, It comes with the NASCAR V8 under the hood. 650hp will throw this car sideways easily in the Gymkhana mode. In the car info is shows the drivetrain being RWD… but once you start the race there is a slight bit of power going to the front wheels too.  Sadly its the only mode you are able to use the car on. Shame we cant attempt Rally with it.

Regardless of only being able to use the Scion tC in Gymkhana and it not being truly RWD its an amazing car to drive, and definitely put a smile on my face when I heard the engine rev up to 9k. You can purchase Tanner Foust’s car in the Xbox Live Market Place  for 160 points, and also in the PSN store for $1.99.

Rogue Status Brings You Formula Drift Road Atlanta [VIDEO]

Rogue Status Visits Road Atlanta

The boys at Rogue Status are back in 2011 making new videos from the 2011 Formula Drift season. They follow around the Scion Racing drivers Fredric Aasbo and Ken Gushi as they took on the second round of the series. They bring a great flair to drifting videos and they are always filled with burnouts.

Ken Gushi Blogs About More Troubles at Road Atlanta

The Scion Racing driver Ken Gushi blogged again about his adventures in Formula Drift. He was much more calm and mostly just came to the conclusion that his car is cursed. Ken Gushi loved the style of the Atlanta crowd by commenting on them drinking at 10:00am for him. I grabbed some of the best parts of his blog post. After his quotes I pulled in you can follow a link to his complete blog post. We documented some of the early troubles they had at Road Atlanta with a blog post.

Now that the pressure was off, I pushed slightly harder on my second run and scored a 90.9!!! So I finished qualify in 6th place. We are pretty content with that. For now.

Saturday. Do these people realize what time it is?! It’s 10am and they are drinking!! Amazing.

Practice went as we had planned. Tried out some different approaches in the horseshoe and it worked!! I was stoked.
Then came top 32. I was up against Charles Ng again.
He improved so much from yesterday I was really nervous. But we pulled it off and moved on to what became a road block and stopped. A blown diff.

I don’t know what to say anymore. Maybe the car is cursed.

The Scion TCs of the 2011 Formula Drift Season [RENDERS]

We just received a few renders of the two Scion TC’s that we can expect to see on the grid in the 2011 Formula Drift season. One is the 2011 Papadakis Racing/Need for Speed Scion TC which will be piloted by Fredric Aasbo, and the other is Ken Gushi’s 2010 Hankook/Scion Racing TC which is returning this season with a slightly tweaked version of the red 2010 DTA/Scion Racing livery. As you’ll notice, both of the TC’s in Scion’s stable will be on Hankook tires as we’ve previously reported.

Stephan Papadakis Interview at Seibon Carbon – Answers Wrecked Magazine Reader Questions [VIDEO]

Stephan Papadakis Talks Drifting at Seibon Carbon

We caught up with Stephan Papadakis at Seibon Carbon late last week before the Team Need for Speed announcement and had him answer some questions that the Wrecked Magazine readers asked him in this “Ask Stephan Papadakis Post.” He answered every single question except the ones about Tanner Foust but we now know he is not returning and Fredric Aasbo is on board with Team Need for Speed.

Fredric Aasbo with Team Need for Speed for 2011 Formula Drift [CONFIRMED]

As the news is pouring out today it looks like here is the new look to the Scion tC being built by Papadakis Racing. The 2010 rookie of the year Fredric Aasbo will be replacing Tanner Foust the Quitter who walked out on the sport this morning. The Team Need for Speed Scion tC will be taken over by the 2010 Rookie of the Year and we cannot wait to see him at the wheel of this new build. Congrats to everyone at Need for Speed, Scion, and Fredric Aasbo on this one!

Tanner Foust Retires from Formula Drift before 2011 Season [CONFIRMED]

The two time Formula Drift champion won’t be in Formula Drift anymore so he can go suck up to Ford and Rockstar Energy Drink in Rallycross. While that information was officially lacking from the PR I cannot really see many other reasons to be walking away before this 2011 season. Although Rockstar Energy Drink use to be the title sponsor of Formula Drift it seems like their interest in the sport has progressively faded over recent years.

That combined with the fact that Tanner isn’t the Ford golden boy of the Ford Motor Company in drifting has potentially lead him to try and make that happen elsewhere. Serving double duty with an OEM isn’t going to get him that position with Ford so Rallycross seems to be his logical answer. He will be driving in Abu Dhabi at the end of this month in the Rockstar Energy Drink tC still at this time. I guess the good news is AT LEAST he didn’t sell out and leave Formula Drift for time attack.

Papadakis Racing Also Has a Scion FT-86 [RUMORMILL]

Word from some reliable sources has it that Papadakis Racing (team owner of Tanner Foust’s Scion tC) has a new Scion FT-86  in it’s possession. We have also been told it might already be caged! We revealed 10 days ago a caged Scion tC that we are certain will be his 2011 Formula Drift car. Judging by the rumored release dates of this Scion FT-86 it appears that Tanner and Steph could be building a 2012 car already to start testing and make this thing a contender in 2012.

Driven to Drift Season 2 Ep. 7 – The Finals at Toyota Speedway [VIDEO]

Driven to Drift: Season 2 Episode 7 – Toyota Speedway

The second season of Driven to Drift has come to an end with Episode 7 highlight Tanner Foust and Ken Gushi at Toyota Speedway also known as the House of Drift. Tanner Foust managed to win the whole event for the Scion Racing team while Ken Gushi secured a Top 16 finish to close out the 2010 season. Rumor has it that Tanner Foust will be in a four cylinder Scion tC similar to Ken Gushi’s for the 2011 Formula Drift season.
