A new installment of Tuerck’d takes Bucky Lasek and Ryan Tuerck to the Tim O’Neil racing school in New Hampshire for some rally and dually drifting fun. Sit back and find out how good Ryan Tuerck is at driving on snow at this rally school!
After a few days of being pestered by various people to get this up on the website we have Rhys Millen and his 2013 Pikes Peak unlimited car. It looks like Garrett Turbo and AEM are going along for the ride this year up the hill with him along with a ton of other sponsors I couldn’t quite make out. According to Hyundai Newsroom they are bringing out this car to take on the Unlimited Class along with a Genesis coupe to defend the RWD record. The car above will be making some serious HP, “This powertrain is expected to produce over 900 h.p. and 800 ft. lbs. of torque, while still making significant use of production components including the block, cylinder heads, bearings and engine accessories.”
Motegi Wheels has put together an awesome “day in the life” video with Formula Drift driver Matt Powers. Even though he is New Zealand at the moment for Drift Shifters don’t miss a 4 minute story about his daily grind. Tandem drifting, surfing, and mounting tires all come together in his average day around San Diego.
Our Project Mustang has been under the knife since we picked it up in July with visits to Paxton supercharger, Energy Suspension, ACT Clutch, and many others getting R&D parts for her big debut at the 2012 SEMA Show. We will be revisiting some of the installations on the car coming up but we put her together for a the Mustangs at Queen Mary Show in Long Beach, California. Tony Brakohiapa had his Formula Drift car in the K&N booth along with Vaughn Gittin Jr. who was doing autograph signings all day in the RTR Mustang booth.
Above is some product previews of our front Wilwood brake kit, Steeda suspension, and Paxton supercharger on the car. Here are some other pictures from the show. Vaughn Gittin Jr. even stopped by to check out our Mustang and we staged some photographs:
This weekend at Sonoma (former Formula Drift track) you can catch all the World Touring Car Championship guys battling it out in wine country for a debut American race for the FIA series. If you happen to make it out you will catch Charles Ng running for a BMW team. Charles left Formula Drift after the 2011 season moving himself to Germany and competing full time in the WTCC series in Europe. The Hong Kong flag V8 powered Rx-7 has been missed in Formula Drift but we are glad Charles is back for a visit to the United States.
Rhys Millen took his Hyundai Genesis this weekend to the top of Pikes Peak in an easy sub 10 minute run with the freshly paved course. This does mark the first year dirt has vanished from the track but Rhys Millen took to the hill starting in the sun and finishing at the top in the rain. His official time of 9:46.164 is quite impressive as he managed to beat the times of other Formula Drift drivers Ken Gushi and Toshiki Yoshioka who were also present in a Lexus IS and S15 Silvia respectively.
Ken Gushi finished Pikes Peak in his inaugural run in the Lexus IS-F CCS-R car, and Toshiki Yoshioka finished his second year on the mountain in Colorado in an RS*R S15 he was seen testing last week. To show just how fast Rhys Millen’s record-breaking run up Pikes Peak was, the times for Ken Gushi and Toshiki Yoshioka were several minutes slower than Rhys’s record-breaking run. Yoshioka’s car was originally built by Driftspeed, but is now operated by RS*R and is different from the S15 he uses in Formula Drift. Gushi finished the course in 11:36.175, while Yoshioka finished in 10:49.009. By comparison, Yoshioka finished the course in 11:33.734 last year, showing just how much faster the course is this year.
Former Formula D driver Andrew Comrie-Picard also competed this year in his Scion xD rally car and finished the course in 12:06.160.
Here is a few minute in car video from his Pikes Peak practice with his DriftSpeed S15. Yoshioka is one of the few Formula Drift event winners after taking home the original Las Vegas round home in his AE86. He has attacked the Pikes Peak Hillclimb before and the Driftspeed S15 is a great platform for Toshiki Yoshioka. We will see how all the Formula Drift stars including Rhys Millen and Ken Gushi finish up the big weekend.
A huge wide body on this 2013 Hyundai Genesis coupe with a huge title sponsorship from PULSE braking system. The car packs tons of great products like HRE wheels, Hankook Tires, and Stoptech Brakes. The 2WD title was taken from Rhys Millen by a Porsche last year so the RMR team is looking to take it back over the postponed Pikes Peak date.
Formula Drift driver Ken Gushi is getting the call to attack Pikes Peak in this Lexus IS-F on steroids. This 416hp 5.0L V8 engine with an 8 speed transmission will fight up all 12.4 miles of the hill in an attempt to take home top in class. Regardless of what happens Ken Gushi will look good flying up the big mountain this summer.
