This is a preview page from the August issue of Option2 magazine which is featuring a Formula Drift spread and the 2010 season recap episode inside the DVD. This is the series we were hinting at in our rumor post yesterday and only a few people guessed it would be Formula Drift.

This is a screen grab of the actual layout talking about Round 1 at Long Beach and Round 2 at Road Atlanta. What does everyone think about Option2 pages being filled with some American drift coverage in the magazine along with the DVD inserts? Who in Japan is looking forward to getting DVD coverage from the newsstands featuring American drift content? This is a huge announcement from Formula Drift starting up a bigger invasion of Asia. Is a Formula Drift Asia event in Japan next on the docket? We sure hope so!

The new August issue of Option 2 is right around the corner from hitting newsstands in Japan. The magazine is notorious for it’s loaded coverage of the D1 Grand Prix series in the past. This makes sense logically since the magazine is based in Japan along with the D1GP drifting series. It has been one of the leading series in the world but during the past year some cracks in the world wide series have cropped up.

Teams have cried foul and the founders have walked away from the series. Option 2 magazine has now taken a step to promote another big drifting series worldwide that isn’t D1. We have to hold out on telling you what series that is but we hope you can figure it out with some deductive reasoning.

A recap show will be featured in the DVD insert and the magazine will include some drifting coverage from the series. We are told the official release of this announcement will come out shortly (by end of week perhaps) from the series but it will be a huge announcement. This comes as a pretty big blow to the D1GP series who has dominated the pages/DVDs of Option 2 magazine in years past.

Here is the cover of the 2011 Fan Guide made this year by Performance Auto Sound Magazine. The cover features 2009 and 2010 champion Chris Forsberg and Vaughn Gittin Jr. in tandem together. You can get your copy at the front entrance of the race this weekend in Long Beach or another other round of the series this year.

Check out Issue 18 featuring Chelsea DeNofa on the cover who was the 2010 XDC Champion. This is also the new Am Issue featuring all the 2011 Rookie of the Year potentials in Formula Drift. We wrapped up the Quest for the Championship Part 3 with Daijiro Yoshihara’s battle to win his first Formula D championship. Also note that PAS Magazine will be creating the Fan Guide next year and this won’t replace it. What are your thoughts on the premiere issue cover?

The new champions issue has arrived on the e-newstand for Wrecked Magazine. Check out Vaughn Gittin Jr. highlighted as the cover story after winning the 2010 Formula Drift championship. Our two additional champions we highlighted this year were James Deane as ProDrift Ireland champion. The last champion highlighted was Matt Waldin who won his second Drift Mania championship in a row.
