March 1st, 2010

Just announced today on March 1st the live stream you saw at the 2009 SEMA show will be brought to the Formula Drift. The Live Stream will capture practice, qualifying and Top 32 of all seven events. This is huge for Fantasy Drift Pro Account holders since they have an extended trade deadline until qualifying. So if your not available in the local area of an event you can watch your drivers perform before making trades on the stream. The stream will also be embedded in your Fantasy Drift account if you have a Pro Account.
The top 16 will be running off live pack technology. “Live Pack Technology enables Formula DRIFT to do live remote coverage from anywhere on the track including in-pit, post-tandem battle, on-grid, and even live from the drivers’ seats.” The Live Stream will have mobile applications for the iPhone and Android for viewing. If you manage to miss the live feed regardless of mobile or on the web they will have an On Demand section to relive the segments from the event.

One of our resident blogging machines Matt Petty just posted up a video of U-God from Wu Tang Clan getting a drifting ride-along from Vaughn Gittin. Vaughn was taking people for rides in his personal 2010 Ford Mustang GT over the weekend and U-God grabbed one of them. Jarod DeAnda is also featured in the video before he goes for his first drifting run. A hilarious three minute video you don’t want to miss!

Tanner Foust : Drifting on Mulholland Highway
The Rockstar Energy Drink x Scion Racing tC took over Mulholland Highway piloted by the master Tanner Foust! This is a 18 second tease video but I’m pretty confident when the full flick comes out it will be awesome. Take a few seconds and tune in.

The long awaited game for Formula Drift has arrived on our website. Once you register you become a Formula D general manager commanding a roster of four drivers. You can compete in public leagues where you can invites friends and have randomly assigned players join to fill the league. You can also run a private league which requires you to invite anyone you want to play into your game. So start a league with work, your drift buddies, or some degenerates from your favorite car forum and draft up for Long Beach!
The game will allow you to score one point for these 10 categories:
1.Top 32 (Anytime a Driver Of Yours Makes It Into the Top 32 You Will Receive One Point)
2.Top 16 (Anytime a Driver Of Yours Makes It Into the Top 16 You Will Receive One Point)
3.Top 8 (Anytime a Driver Of Yours Makes It Into the Top 8 You Will Receive One Point)
4.Podium (Anytime a Driver Of Yours Makes It On Podium You Will Receive One Point Regardless of what Place on the Podium)
5.Vehicle Malfunction (One point will be rewarded to your team if any driver on your team has some sort of vehicle malfunction)
Example: This could be anything from blowing a transmission to not starting at the line.
6.Wreck Tow Off (One point will be rewarded to your team if any driver on your team wrecks his car and must be towed off the course by a tow truck.)
7.Wreck Drive Off (One point will be rewarded to your team if any driver on your team wrecks and is able to drive off on his own will.)
Example: For your driver to qualify into this category he must leave some parts on the track. No bumper taps will count here.
8.One More Time (One point will be rewarded to your team if every time a driver on your roster participates in a One More Time battle regardless of what round he is in.)
9.UnderDog (One point will be rewarded to your team if every time a driver on your roster wins a tandem round of drifting against someone who qualified better than him at the current event.)
10.Team Tire Podium (One point will be rewarded to your team if any driver on your roster who shares a tire company with a driver on the podium.)
Example: Note that your own driver will not count for this. For example, since I have Michael Essa and he runs Maxxis Tires I received points at 2009 Irwindale Speedway Round 7 since Ryan Tuerck was on the podium.
If your not a Fantasy Game professional we understand and if the all the information is a little overwhelming we have made two tutorial videos on how to get going:

As you can tell by the cover of Issue 14 it is the best issue we have made to date. A Mazda Rx-7 driven by a bunny rabbit brings Fantasy Drift to the fans forever. TO celebrate our debut of Fantasy Drift we allowed some of your favorite drifters to embrace their inner fantasy. Also inside the issue is a full Nissan 370z review where Chris Forsberg and Joey Redmond square off in a tandem review of the new ride. Joon Maeng also rolled out a great new diary from his adventures in Panama for Xtreme Drift. This is the largest issue we have created to date! Make sure you grab some popcorn and have no one at work paying attention so you can read the issue cover to cover.
Stories Inside Issue 14:
-Track Spotlight: Englishtown Raceway
-Joey Redmond Editorial: Welcome to 2010
-New Wrecked Lifestyle Products
-Fantasy Drift Explained
-Joon Maeng Diary

The NHRA Winter Nationals is going on this weekend and I swung by the NHRA Museum which is on the Los Angeles Fairgrounds in Pomona. This is where ticket will call is for everyone attending the races this weekend. As you walk in and turn right you will find Sam Hubinette’s Dodge Charger that won the 2007 Summit Point race along with the 2008 International Mexico event.

The Bergenholtz Racing Honda CRX is also sitting next to Sam Hubinette’s Dodge Charger. This was pretty cool to see during a NHRA race week that these cars were on display front and center. Remember, during race weeks you can attend the museum for free of charge if you want to check the cars out regardless of if you buy a ticket to the race or not.

We also have a new product in the store that I will show you a day early since it involves the MOPAR Dodge Charger seen above. Hot Wheels has also decided to immortalize the car along with the NHRA with a MOPAR Dodge Charger Drift Car that looks just like the 2007 competition car.

For 2010 i looks like Formula Drift has brought out a new look to the website. Everything seems to be pretty much in the same place as before so you shouldn’t get to lost on the website but the new look and floating tables is much cleaner than the style of yesterday. Still no date for Sonoma but they have it in the round five slot implying it will go down between July 10th and August 20th.

Here is the set of the new Fantasy Factory season on MTV where Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his Ford Mustang are attempting to grind their way across this long rail with what looks like a jump at the end from some other pictures. Episode will air sometime this summer and I’m interested to see how this one is going to go down.

Look what we just found on twitter. This Mustang will be doing a grind for the new season opener of the Fantasy Factory with a Vaughn Gittin Jr. inspired Mustang. While I am positive this isn’t his his new competition car it sure looks like Monster Energy drink is on that car doesn’t it, along with all of his other sponsors Ford, K&N, Bosch, and Falken. Here was our report earlier this week, Vaughn Gittin Jr. is a Monster.
