During all the big Xbox One announcements ahead of the E3 show we discovered that Forza Motorsport 5 from Turn 10 will be released on the new console. The drift community and our Wrecked fan base seems to be far more partial to the drift options in Forza as opposed to the Gran Turismo counterpart. Forza 5 will surely offer great Formula Drift / D1GP wraps and a huge grouping of cars you can take out drifting. Perhaps we can do another Virtual vs. Reality competition like we did back in Issue 15/16 with Vaughn Gittin Jr. at Horse Thief Mile.

Issue 26 of Wrecked Magazine highlights Fredric Aasbo and his great feats during Formula Drift. After he slayed the champion during Streets of Long Beach everyone put eyes on Fredric Aasbo so we sat down to interview him. He talks about his new RS*R Toyota FT-86 powered by a NASCAR engine. We talk to Melissa Miller who is a girl drifter with a Nissan 300zx in our Girl on Girl section. Our Mustang RTR gets suspension treatment and we go In Focus on the new cars of 2013. Jacob Leveton also answers 5 Questions you might have after the new season started.

Matt Powers threw up a regram of this guy last night at the Long Beach bars pretending to be him enough so that some poor girl posted up a photo of them together. She even threw in a little bragging that she hung out with Matt Powers last night after he took home a win at the Motegi $25k Super Drift challenge. Aside from this being hilarious we want to warn you ladies that this isn’t the real Matt Powers!

In all seriousness if you drift groupies are looking to hang out with some professional drifters we recommend Rock Bottom (1 Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802), Auld Dubliner (71 S Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802), and Beachwood Brewing (210 E 3rd St Long Beach, CA 90802). If you do happen to know the gentlemen in this photograph give him a congrats and tell him to email us! We want to at least get him a Matt Powers team shirt for the future!

Achilles Radial is holding a contest to design Daigo Saito’s 2013 livery for his Lexus.
“Contest time! We are looking for “Inspiration” for the livery on the Achilles Radial SC430 driven by 2012 Formula Drift Champion Daigo Saito! We’re looking to our fans to help with the 2013 design, download the template and design a livery. Once you design your entry post it to our wall. We will choose the winning livery March 1st. The winner will receive 2 tickets to a Formula Drift event of their choice, VIP behind the ropes access in the Achilles Radial pit, and a bag full of Achilles merchandise.

**Achilles logo’s must stay in place, any entry with logo’s moved will not be considered, winning design will be used as inspiration for 2013 livery. We will allow up to 2 designs per person**

Two additional notes: the Achilles logo may be changed to white and you may also design the livery in Forza.

While these Facebook like challenges are clearly becoming the played out trend on FB right now we do like the one Luke Pakula put together for the 2013 Formula Drift season. His board states that “My wife said that if I get 10,000 likes on this picture, she wil pay my entry fees for the full season of 2013 Formula Drift .” As of posting this on 1/27/12 at 2:09pm he has 2,976 likes and we hope it well on his way to break 10k!

Danny George has entertained everyone in Formula Drift on and off the track in 2012. For the new season he has unveiled this new [WHOAGAIN] t-shirt for the new season. His old shirt titled “Who is Danny George?” was bright orange and was seen all over the paddock being worn by fans. This one pays honor or is a pun on Brian Scotto’s brand Hoonigan but everyone should have a good laugh about this one either way.

Drifting in Forza 4 is stepping up its seriousness with a BC Racing sponsored event that allows you to win real prizes and parts for your virtual performance. The three judges include Formula Drift drivers Chelsea DeNofa, Jeremy Lowe, and Patrick Goodin who even released a 10 minute drivers meeting video walking you through the rules of the game and the virtual track Iberian Mini Reverse. This drivers meeting video can be found here.

Rulebook wise the game is pretty simple which limits you to RWD cars only. Engine, suspension, and tire modification have zero restrictions for this Forza contest. However, no positive camber is allowed with your suspension tuning of the vehicle. You also must run the BC Racing logo which is available in the storefront. The big wigs at Jaguar put the new 2013 Jaguar XFR-S in the hands of European drifter Phil Morrison and created this great video. The amazing exhaust notes and wild looking scenery around the drift sections in the video make for one of the best OEM uses of drifting in a commercial to date. The video is so good we will forgive the cheesy tag line they threw in at the end.
