Patrick Mordaunt brought a new attitude and new chassis out to the Streets of Long Beach with his APEXi Lexus SC430. A great look at his performance in the new Lexus including some spot on interior shots in this SullyLife video. Rumor has it that Patrick Mordaunt might still be in the works on picking up a title sponsor for the 2012 season as well. Good luck to the team this year as they shoot for his best career finish.

The guys at Maxxis Tire are back in Formula Drift for 2012 with none other than Retaks driver Ryan Tuerck who use to run Maxxis before the left the sport. Here is Ryan with Yaer Productions walking you through the course with the new pavement in detail highlighting how he attacks the course.

The guys over at Powervehicles put together a 5 minute test/shake down video of Daigo Saito running his Lexus IS250 around the Ebisu Circuit before it heads to southeast Asia for Formula Drift Asia. The car looks like a blast to drive with a similar huge rear wing setup in the back to his Lexus SC430 here in America. It will take a few minutes into the video for him to really go at it but well worth the wait.

The guys at Luis Martinez Racing are gearing up to put down a half season with Brad Hettinger in this S14 with one huge Daigo Saito sized wing. The car will run Falken Tires with Konig wheels for competition. The car is running a V8 engine with clutch duties put in from SPEC Clutch. The title sponsor they are using for support is Mad Croc Energy which produces an energy drink and gum. Good luck to these guys as they try and dominate the east coast one event at a time.

According to various reports the Irwindale Speedway drag strip is reopening this Thursday April 26th proving once again that Irwindale Speedway is back on track to being business as usual. About once a week we get asked if the Round 7 at Irwindale Speedway will still be happening and the answer is quickly yes. Scion recently used the track before FD Long Beach for a test day and now drag racing is back in weekly action. Here is a message from the Dragzine article, “We want everyone to know how much Jim Mnoian and Jay Garrett, the owners of the Irwindale property have been very involved with the process of getting the drag strip back on line. These two gentleman are both team players and understand what the drag strip means to the community,” said Cohan.

Here are some photos of Tony Brakiohapa’s new Formula Drift Ford Mustang. The car missed Streets of Long Beach and Long Beach Grand Prix events but hopefully the team can get things together for an east coast Formula Drift tour. It is also very cool to see eBay motor stepping into the sport for 2012. What does everyone think of the car and does this Mustang have what it takes to battle the two factory Ford machines running with ASD x Falken?

The guys at D3 Cadillac are up to no good once again by handing over the keys to a 1000hp D3 Cadillac to Tyler McQuarrie and some Indy driver you probably have never heard of named J.R. Hildebrand. The guys at D3 build some very impressive Cadillac V machines which you can see on display sliding around Long Beach in this video. The guys at D3 event lent us some time on the dyno before Streets of Long Beach for Dennis Mertzanis. With that said you should go buy one so they can pay Tyler to keep doing burnout’s everywhere he goes.

The 2012 Team Drift weekend went off with a huge bang during the LBGP event and team drift kept all the fans on their feet this weekend! The guest judges Dai Yoshihara and Tanner Foust kept a watchful eye of the festivities and awarded Kyle Mohan and Odi Bakchis the winners of the Team Drift weekend. We kept the IRL fans entertained all Grand Prix weekend as they cheered and stood on their feet while several teams drifted it up throughout the weekend.

Justin Shreeve took on Long Beach with a video titled No Mercy which shows off tons of highlights from the weekends Round 1. A great compilation of tandem battles featuring the event winner Justin Pawlak and some rookies like George Marstanovic who was caught blowing Santa’s hat straight off his head with a wall tap. Justin produced another great video to kick off the 2012 season.
