Our sources have told us that Eric O’Sullivan will be jumping on the driftstream over the weekend. He will be joining Jacob Leveton for commentary during the late top 32 practice on Friday as well as during most of the tandem rounds on Saturday. Eric’s insight in NJ was very enjoyable to watch, and we can’t wait to hear their commentary. Eric earned 2nd place in Seattle back in 2009, so he should have some tips on how to do well at this track. Qualifying will still be narrated by Jarod Deanda, the voice of Formula D.

Back in 2006, we ventured up to Seattle filming the Slide America DVD and witnessed one of the most dramatic crashes in Formula D to date when Seigo Yamamoto and Yokinobu Okubo collided mid-bank. Since then, Formula D has returned to Seattle 5 more times, and each year, we’ve learned to expect the unexpected. Seattle is one track that has had some of the most diverse podiums. We decided to look back at the last 6 years that Seattle has taken place as we prepared for our seventh trip to the track this weekend.

The rain came down in qualifying and did mange to mix things up a little bit. Towards the end of the second runs the track did clear up allowing the top 10 powerhouse drivers put down relatively dry passes. Here is how they finished on the day:

A ton of rain is heading straight for New Jersey and according to the weather report we pulled from Wunderground.com the rain is coming right before qualifying kicks off tomorrow. Just before qualifying the odds of rain for the day jump from 20% to 50%! Hopefully the rain isn’t heavy for frequent enough to flood out the track like in 2009 (see Eric O’Sullivan above).
So keep your eyes peeled but if the rain hits when they are reporting I think we will see some cars in the fence and some championship runners miss qualifying altogether resulting in one huge shake up of the championship and two hours of entertainment on your computer, iPad, laptop or random device you use to tune in this weekend.
The guys at Hankook Tire rolled out the big announcement today that they have picked up Mike Fitz for the rest of the 2012 season. This FC Rx-7 looks pretty awesome and Hankook Tire is making a huge presence with Mike this season kicking off at Round 2 Punchestown. Rumor has it Mike Fitz might be looking to find a way to head over to the United States like some fellow Pro Drift stars such as Darren McNamara, Eric O’Sullivan, and Dean Kearney.
The siege on Ennis as some called it is now over and it puts the first round of the Pro Drift series in the books. While drifting fires up all over the world you cannot forget about Pro Drift who has developed some serious world caliber talent by the likes of Darren McNamara, James Deane, and Eric O’Sullivan. Sadly James Deane who still runs in the series had a gearbox failure as he pulled up to the line for his first qualifying run paving the way for some others to land on the podium. Here is how the podium finished out for Round 1:

The guys at Clubloose threw the last event of the year at Englishtown called Finishing Moves put a close to the series for the year. Sadly New Jersey has winter coming so drifting is on hold until 2012. Dan Jenkins captured the competition of the amazing weekend with his big lens.
