The Pro Am finals at Irwindale Speedway were an insane one that took place before the big show Final Fight. Several Am guys looked amazing through the weekend like Dave Briggs who ended up spinning in competition. Another ASD Mob driver Brian Peter who ran in the Midwest Drift Union all year took home first place. This is the results:

Project V8 240sx has been getting some serious love over the past few weeks from the Wrecked staff. We picked up a full ISIS Suspension arm kit (available for the S13 and S14) to install on the V8 S13. The installation covers the rear upper control arms, rear traction arms, and rear toe links. Head over to the Projects Blog to see how the installation came along.

Here in Florida, you can tell when the weather is steadily approaching the end of summer: it gets hot. Damn hot. It’s like summer becomes a beast in its death-throes and in one final attempt to survive, it beats you down with the kind of sweltering heat guaranteed to overheat oil pans and brain pans alike. It really puts a damper on outdoor activities, like our beloved drifting. I mean, who wants to be out there on a sun-scorched track, in a drift-missile – sans air conditioning – for hours? Well, when you’ve got the twin powers of NOS Energy and the Central Florida Racing Complex watching your back, we do.

The V8 car sneak peak we showed earlier was in fact Bill Sherman’s Formula Drift Road Atlanta beast. He is at the event today getting ready to compete in this newly built 240. Enjuku has brought some sponsors over like Cooper Tires, Retaks, and SPEC Clutch to help support the program. Good luck to Bill this weekend.

Bill Sherman made a major and impactful return this weekend at Formula D Sonoma by finishing on the podium with his Retaks Nissan 240sx. His victory this weekend shows that the recipe of a familiar car and a quality driver will get you the points in Formula Drift. It never seemed clear to us at Wrecked Magazine why Bill Sherman was left on the bench for the 2008 season to begin with? His aggressive and FAST style are a recipe for disaster when facing opponents in the top 16. Let’s take a flashback to the Enjuku Racing days with Bill Sherman and his Nissan 240sx.

Bill Sherman was able to win the 2007 NOPI Drift Championship by a landslide and although the competition wasn’t as fierce compared to Formula D it definitly showed he was a serious player. Over the course of 2007 Enjuku Racing ran a double schedule and managed to stay very competitive in Formula D over the same season. At Road Atlanta he even managed to battle Rhys Millen in a contraversal battle where the judges granted Rhys Millen a victory but the fans boo’d with disdain and many media outlets questioned the judges call with some replay videos.

So just in case Bill Sherman disappears again let’s not forget he is a serious player in the Drifting game and keep an eye on him. Let’s see if he can repeat with a strong finish at Irwindale!
