So the new Option Video talks to the world about his NASCAR powered Dodge Viper heading to the D1GP series in 2013. While we don’t have a translation on the video we got some tips from an article at Enginelabs.com telling us about the motor set to power this Dodge Viper.
The article talks about the engine tech for this Nationwide Series Dodge 356ci V8 which received an EFI conversion and some help from AEM. If you want to dig into some hardcore tech with NASCAR motors or just read up more on what engine build Daigo will be taking to D1 this upcoming season read up on this great piece below.
Why would the nascar V8 be better than the viper V10?
I’m just talking out of my ass cause I honestly don’t know but I’d imagine it would ne lighter, better torque curve, simpler and easier to fix and maintain.
Time to sit back and watch the Fan Boys explode!
This should be fun….
I would imagine parts are more readily available in Japan as well, if not globally. And probably WAY more affordable.
Pretty sweet that the Japanese are interested in NASCAR
Awesome!!
saw this last week when a dude posted this on my twitter with a picture of the car build. Pretty sure its the Challenger motor in a Gen 2 Coupe chassis. Will be good to see another Viper ripping it up this year, hope he brings it to USA!
He should have manned up and drove it LHD though! haha
He bought the nascar motors from dave briggs’s FD 350z
Awesome…I love this…Jap car in an American series…American car in a Jap series!
D’aigo Unchained
Probably because Daigo has a small penis. He is compensating.
Btw, I like suckling on peni.
Mike Peters
Really? ‘Jap’?? Are you so fucking lazy you cannot press two more keys on the keyboard? Or maybe you’re just ignorant.
Gen2 Viper engine parts are impossible to find. We can’t even get some random stuff without hunting for it here at Hennessey.
This is excellent. I am slightly saddened I can’t be the first one with a missile Viper though.
Fan boy here…. I think this is pretty cool and kind of funny lol.
He was suppose to be in a mustang a few years ago, wonder what ever happened to that?
Kevin, Dave Briggs is actually using the 350z in the DMCC series this year… with the NASCAR motors Daigo didnt buy from him.
^^ lol.. wrong..
LOL COME ON FAN BOYS WHERE IS THE HATE BRING IT !!!!!! daigo is making it rain not on hoe’s but cars and motor’s
NASCAR V8 FRS, NASCAR V8 Viper, D1GP is looking pretty good.
Nobody’s gonna hate on Daigo for this. Especially the fanboys…… BECAUSE THEY ARE FANBOYS. If Daigo likes V8′s, so will they. JZ swaps are dead, V8′s are cool again.
That guy is living the dream!
Viper with a V10 > Viper with a V8
No one making big power with a viper uses Hennessy put down the DuPont registry. For the money a take out sprint motor is a great power option. Also with a smaller motor engine placement and chassis balance shouldn’t be an issue.
Soon turbos in drifing will be dead.
Drifting will become nascars slutty cousin.
Can’t wait too see what he can do with that beast, though i do wonder why not just bring it to Formula D. I honestly think D1GP is to easy for him. Last season he only ran 4 times and got 2nd place in the series. But then again that doesn’t mean 2013 season will be a walk in the park for him.
@ Casey
Ya dude… or dudette. Briggs sold those things a long time ago. As for Diago, I think he should of used the var he bought of Sam. Now that’d ne bad ass. Was never a viper fan
Here’s my general translation. The video doesn’t mention a NASCAR engine but you can plainly see one lying next to the car (I guess)?
0:55
into to daigo (him going to the USA)
1:13
Him talking about the differences – “The drivers are very good but the biggest difference is the tracks… They have banks.”
1:20
Dude with mic “In Japan, what’s your fav driver?”
Cute girl “Daigo Saito!”
Brown dude “Daigo Saito…”
1:25
Daigo “I’ve always wanted to do lots of different things.. Honestly, that led me to the viper” (loose translation)
Taken from the article which is a very good read. “This client picked up a Dodge Viper that was damaged in the tsunami and decided it would be “real cool” for the Japanese market to replace the water-logged V10 with a NASCAR V8 engine. He then purchased a pair of engines out of Evernham Motorsports.”
In the article it mentions Henry Schelley. Is that the same Schelley who drove the Federal Tires s13 in Formula D in 08?
2jz in FD and V8 in D1GP, think hes trying to prove a point.
Casey , your going to be shock when were going to open the hood of the Z !
Daigo loved the sound of the engine and wanted to buy them when they were still in the car !
No more nascar , we went a different route !
