The kickoff of the 2013 D1 Grand Prix season is normally looked at the Tokyo Auto Salon which brings out a huge group of drivers to put on an exhibition of the parking lot. Here is Daigo Saito with his Sunoco Fuels sponsored Lexus IS250-C. This car sounds quite insane as he rips around the TAS parking lot.

It seriously makes me think they’re starting to make clutches out of unobtanium, because I can’t even begin to imagine how one would last one event with power like this.

We ran an off the shelf SPEC super twin all year in this car, his SC430 as well as Robbie’s SC300 and chaser.
all that power for such a tiny track.

Here’s a vid of the whole event it seems. Qualifying was a warm up run followed by one qualifying run. They had 8 D1 driver’s. Top 8 was just one tandem run with higher qualifier leading I’m assuming. Top 4 was traditional tsuiso.
