Darren McNamara apparently needs some new transportation for Formula Drift Round 2 after his big crash at Streets of Long Beach which you can watch again by viewing it in this post below. The 350z of controversy is back after a feather shaking Las Vegas last year with Justin Pawlak stepping into it while removing Tyler McQuarrie. Now in 2012 the 350z is collecting dust over at ASD and getting prepped for this debut at Road Atlanta. I am pretty sure this is the first time DMac will be driving LHD in competition. We hope that he will have some time at Lowes Motor Speedway to test before the big event at Road Atlanta in the car. Darren has stepped onto the podium many times in Atlanta so a new car and a huge lack of points in Long Beach really is going to put pressure on him to perform at this event trying to stay championship points relevant.
Makes you wonder if anyone at Falken wishes they had fired this guy instead

I feel like that sky would be so hard to drive. I’m sure it wasn’t, but just thinking about all that grip, all that power, and not all that wheel base seems like it would make it so hard to drive. I feel like he’s gonna do really good in the z.
wasn’t the hardtop sky a completely different chassis from the roadster sky? if so, I wonder why they didnt resurrect that car.
Marketing wise too the Z makes way more sense

Yeah the hardtop Sky was a new car. Built after he totaled the other one at Irwindale.
I don’t think the old Sky was going to be legal under the new rule changes. From what I read, they had already started on the hardtop when he wrecked the convertible.
I thought they were trying to get the S15 back into comp shape. I imagine it would be an easier switch being RHD and all.
The s15 isnt from ASD while the 350z is. So thats probably why.
So does this mean the hardtop Sky is totalled? Or is this just his ride for Atlanta?

If not maybe ASD can convert it to Right hand drive for him? The 350Z was available with Right hand drive so the parts are out there to do it…
