Daigo Saito’s 2012 Formula Drift Lexus SC430

Daigo Saito has recently been hard at working getting ready for the 2012 Formula Drift season. He’ll be competing in a rumored 1200hp Lexus SC430. The car should be completed soon and brought over from Japan shortly. Daigo should be able to keep up with all the V8′s this year with no problem. Hopefully the car is set to ship out stateside soon since Formula D Round 1 is right around the corner.

I first got into drifting around 2006 after finding videos on YouTube. I ended up attending my first drift event in 2007 at Sonoma Raceway and was hooked. Wrecked Magazine offered me a job here in 2010 and since have been a freelance writer, and striving towards my own drift career.

WOW DAIGOZILLA! That turbo is the size of a toilet bowl! You can barely see the Pikes Peak inspired monster wing. I really like the open top style better. I can’t wait to see Robbie’s car finished.

  2. YOitzJDM says:

I wonder if he measured the endplates on the wing to make sure they are actually legal

  3. Erich Hagen says:

Read it has over 1000 hp. This thing is going to be amazing!

  4. petite pounder says:

    1200hp. turbolag much?

  5. Once a car passes into 4 digit horsepower is called “horsepowers”

  6. Bridges Racing says:

We went over all the rules with him and the wing was one of the topics, so yes it’s with in the rules.

Nitrous is pretty good at helping turbo lag. Daigo is very familiar with this set up. If anything the new Garrett GTX turbi will spool up better than his old stuff.

  7. Bridges Racing says:

    Turbo*

My pants are extremely tight now

  9. lifer says:

the 2JZ is known as the “V8 Killer”. We will see if that plays into drifting now.

whats the shipping time on something like this
, im assuming rear mounted radiator?

  13. Mike peters says:

Hope it clears customs in time.

That setup will only lag if you’re a faggot with the throttle. And I’m pretty sure Saito ain’t one of teh gheys.

  14. B rad says:

His wing looks like it will pass, The dimensions allowed are a 12×16 end plate. I can’t wait to see this dude rip again in the states!

  15. casey says:

Wing will be destroyed on the walls at Long Beach.

  16. Applesauce says:

This engine is air-cooled, no radiator needed.

  17. Daigo > all says:

his skill level compared compared to making that much power is going to make it difficult for others.. Dude never lifts and doesn’t need a v8.

  18. Buckey says:

Daibro Saito is coming to return the US Drift scene to awesomeness. Cant wait! Long beach is going to be filled with a bunch of people hoping on the JZ band waggon instead of this vgay8 crap.

Sorry dudes but an ls1 in your 240 does not make you kill it…

  23. chris says:

2jz is known as the V8 killer? Funny name… thought it was known as “heart of dyno queen” or “The most over-rated JDM engine out there!”

  24. Piner says:

I can’t wait to see him ripping up the track at long beach, Got to see him practicing the jump at Ebisu South in his jzx90 missile while I was there. He is amazing!

  25. dan chapman says:

He will destroy fd, shame its not in the 100 though! He by far the best comp driver in the world

As much as Im happy with him coming and seeing more Lexus in the sport …part of me wishes it was the Altezza. But this shit will be just as hardcore

  30. lifer says:

    @Buckey

Neither does a Rotary, 4cyl-turbo, or a barrel of monkeys under the hood. You should know what will “make you kill it”. I hope your not that ignorant, and your directing that comment to someone you know that you don’t like with an LS1 240sx.

  31. lifer says:

    @Chris

Same thing could be said about the any V8, but I’m not taking sides here. We all have seen what a killer 2JZ can help do with A LOT less power than Daigo’s car. Remember Aasbo’s Supra?

  32. Mike Peters says:

But if you have a LS1 v8 you can get a picture with no angle doing a 4th gear burnout at 20mph.

Doing that with a JZ requires throttle commitment, American drifter bro kids aren’t up to that challenge, that requires skill and work and stuff. Keep it sick bros.

  33. lifer says:

What are you talking about Mike? Sure some amature with money gets an LS1-240sx without learning how to drift, then yes He will not be able to drift well in a 2JZ. Anyone with experience would understand how to drift either a V8 or a 2JZ and make it look good.

  34. Torque is a crutch to stop you from breaking your gimpy skill leg.

  35. This makes me smile

  36. lifer says:

That doesn’t make any sense, but whatever…

  37. Mike Peters says:

Lifer you are correct all sick like. Let me edit my post to make more sense, all sick like.

  40. Jeff Abbott says:

I try to be sick bros, I try… Its really just cool to have a chance to drive with cats like this…

  41. lifer says:

Jeff my man, there is no need for you to try. You are in a different level than any body else here. You my friend are a humble giant in a little drift rocket. A genuine nice guy with a true love for the sport.

One that note…That one great thing about drifting is that its not like Basketball or the other usual overthetop sports. In drifting, anyone really can have a chance to run with the pros if you have the right motivation to get you there.

  42. jdub says:
