Sadly the Evasive FC Rx-7 powered by a LS6 engine won’t be present for the 2012 Formula Drift program. Sadly for you Formula Drift fans who cannot get enough of Charles Ng he is now living in Germany and putting serious focus to the World Touring Car Championship in 2012. I know some of his fans were the most vocal on this website and we will miss his legion of supporters along with his V8 powered Mazda on the grid in 2012. We wish him the best of luck in the series and hope he can turn that ride into something great. He did say that he will certainly come back when time allows! The WTCC and Formula Drift schedule are riddled with conflicts in 2012. Best of luck Charles Ng!
That car has a great history of drivers. I feel its going to reach legendary status if it continues to pass from FD driver to FD driver.
good for him maybe he can do better there than his showing in fd.
lifer the car cannot reach legindary status if it hasnt placed in any events EVER!!!
Damn… the spec miata series actually pays off!
I hope FD has enough drivers to make 32 at every round this year…
have enough drivers? there have been more news flashes of drivers coming into the series then leaving this year. saito, tony angelo, denofa… not to mention all the pro am guys who recieved licenses last year.
There are gonna be a ton of FD drivers next year.
That’s big “if” I am waiting to see. I would love to own that car if I was going to be a rookie in FD. Who knows, just saying.
These are the people I know are jumping into FD
1. Mats Baribeau
2. Miro Ovcharik
3. Brad Hettinger
4. Pat Goodin (lol funny you should mention the rookies)
5.Chelsea Denofa
6. Daigo Saito
7. Zoltan Hadju
8. Julian Jacobs
9. Jason Bostrom
10. Roland Gallagher
and that is just off of the top of my head. There are more, but I can’t think of them right now
FD isn’t going to be lacking in drivers next year by any means
Im happy there is a lot of new blood coming into the series but to me it seems like your taking a step backwards with all these guys with pro am level cars (with an exception of a few). I wish them well but most of these guys will get sorted out by the end of top 32 and I’m sure more than half will not do a full season.
It seems like the 240 era of 2005 again which has its pluses and minuses from a spectator stand point. Dai has one of if not the best s13s in the game but it’s a big gap between that car and the next one.
Good luck everyone I can’t wait until long beach. It will be an interesting event I’m sure.
@Ayo When you say “your” taking a step backwards, who are you refering to?
Yes they have Proam Level Cars, but it was good enough to get a license so Its good enough to give a round of FD a shot.
These drivers worked hard to get this kind of opportunity and It was completely up to them to decide to run an FD event or run another season in Proam. They got the money to do it want the experience under their belt. Whatever they are driving, they know the odds of making it past the top 32 are slim, but for some its worth it to try.
Dang! I will miss my buddy Charles. Good luck with what you pursue man!!!
@Lifer – So Chris Licup, Mike Feiock, and Mike Skudlarick should all be considered FD-level drivers because they earned their FD licenses?
Feiock at least made a top 32. I don’t think either Licup or Skudlarick completed a full lap even in practice. They just ate up practice time for everyone else.
I’ll be out there with my FC! Can’t wait for 2012 season to start
@YOitzJDM – I see what your saying so I hope I can clear up what I was thinking. They are FD licensed Proam drivers, or Rookies if you will. once they reach their Sophomore year in FD, and at least competed in more than half of the events in the season, then they are FD level drivers. Keep in mind this is only my view of driver skill based on personal and shared experiences. If you agree then great. If not I understand. I would like to hear about it either way.
@George M. – I seems like everyone forgets the AZ drivers, and its really not fair to you. Your FC is awesome! My vote is on you for challenging the Rookie of the Year. I really hope you can make it to most of the rounds. Good luck man!
go george!!!
