Tony Angelo Stepping into the old Scion Racing tC for 2012 [RUMORMILL]

The Scion Racing tC that ran with Ken Gushi and Hankook Tires for 2011 might not be retired from the sport after all. The rumormill is abuzz this weekend that Drift Alliance member Tony Angelo will be given the tC to run his 2012 season. Not really sure of the Scion tC will have 100% factory support like it did in 2011 with Ken Gushi but we can imagine some of the vehicle sponsors are coming along with the former Formula Drift judge for 2012. This sounds like a great start to the new season for a driver who hasn’t been behind the wheel in Formula Drift for several years. What do you think about Tony Angelo driving this Scion tC?
Get what you can so you can still be in the sport. Props to Tony for finding a competitive ride. I wonder what other options (if any) he had before deciding on the TC?
Its good to see him getting a programme together but I can’t help but feel the tC is neither reliable or competitive enough for the sport anymore.
Just look at Ken Gushi’s blogs about the car being broken at nearly every round and you’d wonder why anyone would want to be in it.

I can think of about 10 other drivers who would be better fits with the Scion brand imaging.
I bet he smashes that tC into a wall multiple times this season.
Its just an assumtion, but I would think Tony is well aware of the Tc’s history, and covered his bases on keeping it running well. When the TC was running well, it was a killer comp drifter. My favorite TC moment that i whitnessed was in the Final Fight last Oct were he eliminated Dai. He was leading and got amazing angle/smoke coming off the bank. so much that it threw Dai off his game (very hard to do) causing him to strighten.

I dont drive “missile cars” I drive real cars, and as a matter of fact more then you can probably count. Unlike the bloodmasters I own a BIG home, dont live in a tiny bedroom at my moms house, or in a apt in Brooklyn w/17 dudes. The only track you ever shredded was the one on your forearm. As for radical lifestyles i wouldnt consider lack of showering, shopping in thrift stores and driving rustbuckets anything close to radical, and as for free tires most of your crew dont even have a ride for next year, let alone their own cars, or were deserted by the teams they once had that will actually move on to be successful without their drivers (go figure). while i go troll thru mall parking lots in my whip “with” beautiful women, you guys can keep fingering each others moms and corrupting the actual youth of todays drifting culture by putting whack-ass corny videos that most people are scared to say they dislike anyway.

I’d love to see Tony get back into a car, and especially the tC which, while having some reliability issues, doesn’t require all the massive development of a brand new car. If anything I feel like the tC is only getting more competitive as more giants like the Camaro and Challenger/Charger enter the field. Having seen Tony ripping around with Forsberg and the rest of the Bloodmasters, I can’t wait for the coming season if he ends up in the Scion.

I’m very excited to see where this goes for him. It’s a great opportunity to get back in the saddle. Knowing Tony personally, I know he’d never make a decision of this magnitude without weighing all the options. This gives him a chance to really do something great as well as keep himself grounded with his efforts in BloodMasters.

If it’s true that you’re going with the Scion Racing tC, it should be a huge improvement over the last program you had with your RX-8. I think this is a really exciting time for both you and Scion Racing, and we can’t wait to see you track side.
We’d also like to extend any and all support possible to the Bloodmasters. That’s a great way to get back to the grassroots movement in drifting… keeping it about FUN, not big serious race teams with BIG houses and beautiful women in mall parking lots.

First, BST, I’m actually carrying a ton of my old sponsors from my Rx-8 over, so I have NO idea what you are talking about, but this is the internet, so feel free to run your mouth.
Secondly, finding out that most of this negativity is 100% been tracked to another FD team’s shop, who feel like it’s cool to childishly slander me and my potential team is pretty disheartening. I’ve worked hard for drifting, for about the last ten years I have given countless hours of my life to promote this sport, and the last three years trying to make FD a place where a good driver can succeed. To have a team that benefitted from my hard work just come on here and trash me and my program, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Yes, I must be the only person who ever switched tire companies! Granted, I didn’t have the best time with Falken, but we still talk, and get on fine. Then I left Cooper, who I still have a great relationship with, but wanted a better tire. Leaving for a BETTER TIRE? OMGDRAMAZ went to Bridgestone, who had a kickass tire, and yes, I LEFT AFTER ONE YEAR, MOREDRAMAZ because I wanted a BETTER TIRE (OMGMYHEART), Loved the Maxxis tire

And find it funny that Gardella is so bitter about losing one of the best drivers in FD, that they now need to come on and slander his friends and their achievements… and more than just friends… Dudes that have put their hearts into getting where they are, have bled, have so many sleepless nights, traveling miles just to make the next event, just to get out on the track and chase something that they love.
These guys know grassroots, because they know their own roots… enter the BLOODMASTERS. If you don’t “get it”… you never will. These dudes are giving back to their community…

Do you think they just decided to start a professional drag team, then move into professional drift team out of the clear blue sky without working for it? More like they came up through the drag scene the same way – putting their hearts into getting where they are, having bled, having so many sleepless nights, traveling across country just to get out to the track just to do something they love – RACING.
From building an every day driver (Honda Civic) to a world record holding drag car. WORKING THEIR WAY UP THE RANKS through the years to be able to get factory support to move onto a pro class racing against some of the best PRO FWD drag racers ever, like Stephan Papadakis and the Bergenholtz brothers (yeah the same guys that also run FD teams)
These guys worked for everything they have in racing so show some respect. Maybe if you do a little research you’ll see “what’s they have done” within drag and FORMULA DRIFT.

What people aren’t seeing is that any company that would partner or is partnering with Tony would be doing themselves good marketing. Think of how much exposure he would be giving to any of them because of how closely people will be watching his return to driving.
This is a professional sport. the point of going pro is to make money, you wanna just have fun then stay in grassroots.
I don’t get it. Gardella Racing is a totally competent outfit. I do not believe that they would allow something negative to get out about another team nor do I think that they would be send out comments about another teams driver. At any point, that driver could end up being employed by the Gardella team. It just doesn’t make sense. The drifting community is a small one, and I don’t believe that they would intentionally create a war. It serves no purpose.
I’ve known the Gardellas for a long time now, and I know that they are an upstanding family business that treats their customers, fans, and team members right.
