Robbie Nishida Has a Lexus SC300 for Formula Drift 2012

Posted on Jan 11, 2012 In Formula D Robbie Nishida Rumors/Gossip Spy Shots

Robbie Nishida is currently working on this Lexus SC300 for the 2012 Formula Drift season! His new teammate Daigo Saito will also be in a Lexus next season making them the Lexus brothers in the new season. Both cars we can only imagine will come with 2JZ engine power plants and be presented at Streets of Long Beach. Former Urbanracer editor Bob Hernandez is working on a story for some other website and we will make sure the data/news comes to our readers as soon as its made public or we figure it out.

The big rumor and question still remains about the newfound funding/sponsor this team has received in 2012. We keep hearing about a tire company who has stepped on board for them but the 2012 Formula Drift rulebook shows no new approved tires to date for the series.

I heard that Godspeed and Megan are doing a collabo on these cars.

    Hercules tyres

  3. TSUNAMI-Donny says:

I can only imagine that these cars are running either Vertex Ridge or BN Sports Blister kits. Robbie did pretty well at Ebisu with Daigo’s old Soarer, so hopefully he’ll be able to pull out some magic out of this car too.

Also, wouldn’t Hankook be the most likely sponsor since they had Robbie last year and Daigo in Formula D? There could also be a likely, yet unfortunate, possibility that they’d be running Achilles Tires.

wonder what they are doing with the s13.5?

  5. DriftFree says:

Shakes dice COME ON NITTO LOL.just because they make the best vids out of any tire company in the series and would be cool to see Robbie and daigo in nitto tire features and NT05′S are the shit :-)

I can see General tires making a impact. They were pretty big in Dmcc a few years ago.

This will be their Achilles heel.

Seriously, how has nobody posted that easy zinger yet? C’mon Wrecked commenters. Sheesh.

  12. Wrecked Magazine says:

I have spoken to a representative of General Tire / Continental Tire through a source and have been told they have no plans to jump into drifting for 2012.

Most of the speculation I have heard is from possibly Goodyear but I cannot get a good handle on anything solid.

BFG is still running currently with Sam Hubinette.

Toyo and Nitto are under the same ownership umbrella so Toyo left Formula Drift due to redundancy more than anything I feel.

Dunlop Tire is actually a really good suggestion I haven’t really explored. I am going to add them to the list of options.

    Its Achilles tires.

“bfg toyo and dunlop were all aproved in the past and pulled out due to the infastructure of fd”

Dunlop pulled out becuase FD wants $30k from each tire company to be a “approved” tire. As far as I know FD is the only Drift organization asking for money to be an approved tire company.

This is why Dunlop , maxxis dont do Formula D and are in every other form of drifting.
