Greddy Set to Build Scion FR-S for Ken Gushi in 2012

We have more information on this Scion FR-S build happening with Ken Gushi next season! It sounds like RS*R is taking a backseat like we posted a rumormill of earlier and they have a new company taking over building of the Scion. The Toyota GT-86 has been everywhere this weekend and we documented some production photos of what the car looks like as a production model. With a relationship already in place between Scion Racing and Greddy (see the Scion tC above) it sounds like they are going to call on them to complete the 2012 Scion FR-S build for Ken Gushi. We cannot wait to see what they will cook up for the new drifting season.

S13 Hatchback Smashed into Light Pole at Harrah’s Casino [SNAPSHOT]

I cannot really tell you much about this accident because the image just popped into my Newsfeed without any description titled to the photo. This red S13 looks like it got away from the driver and connected to a light pole. The scene of this accident looks like Harrah’s Casino in Tunica, Mississippi. Judging by the massive amount of tire tracks in the back left corner of the image this happened at some sort of sanctioned event/demo. Regardless that is a tough hit and damage done to a good looking S13 hatchback.

Scion FR-S / Toyota GT 86 Final Production Models [SNAPSHOTS]

Here are some Toyota GT 86 (or Scion FR-S for us in America) images posted by a Japanese website from the big release they have done on the car now in Japan. The car has a Subaru boxer engine which has been rumored well in the past. The interior has a simplistic feel which I would expect from a Scion branded car and a nice three pod gauge cluster just above the radio. I really love the gauge cluster of the car and hope the USDM market gets an identical one.

This is the car now going to be what Ken Gushi is starting with for a 2012 Formula Drift project car. The car looks quite different from the concept car we saw at the 2011 SEMA Show. I love the car from some angles and I am not thrilled about it right now from other angles but I think it should grow on me over time. What do you think about this new Scion FR-S?

Scion FR-S Media Unveiling/Testing in Japan at Fuji Speedway

Speedhunters journalist and former Wrecked Magazine photographer Dino Dalle Carbonare posted this on his Facebook earlier today. This is a test mule Scion FR-S he snapped at an event in Japan right now over at Fuji Speedway. According to someone at the event the car in Japan will be branded just as the Toyota GT 86. A finalized stock version of the car should crop up very soon. We have even more news about the Scion FR-S in drifting coming up right around the corner as well!

Vaughn Gittin Jr. Gets New Mustang for International Events [SPYSHOT]

We pulled a quick screen grab from this video showing the new Ford Mustang rolling into paint according to ASD. The car is being assembled for international demos according to the blog. The car is a simplistic version of his race car like most international demo cars and features a Ford crate motor.

Ken Gushi Set to Drive Scion FT-86 for 2012 Season [RUMORMILL]

We haver quite the confirmation (about 99%) that Ken Gushi will be driving a Scion FR-S for the 2012 Formula Drift season. Our source also heard that RS*R will not be building the new Scion FR-S for the Scion Racing team but more news on that later. What does everyone think about Ken Gushi driving a Scion FR-S next year? Will anyone step up in the new Subaru BRZ STI as well? I personally cannot wait to see Ken Gushi in a new platform with some new support to push him in the right direction!

Charles Ng Competes in the World Touring Car Championship

With the Formula Drift off season now in full effect, some drivers have taken to relaxing while others are still active behind the wheel. We reported that Tyler McQuarrie was busy shattering lap records behind the wheel of the FXMD NSX, and now we focus on Charles Ng who is competing in the World Touring Car Championship.

Charles Ng will take the wheel of the #51 Liqui Moly Team Engstler BMW 320TC pictured above at the finale of the 2011 World Touring Car Championship at the legendary Macau Guia Street Circuit. This is the same race circuit that has seen the likes of Senna, Schumacher, and most recently current F1 Champion Sebastian Vettel and is often regarded as one of the most challenging and dangerous race circuits in the world alongside Monaco.

Charles’ last race in the BMW was in Shanghai where he managed to capture a 4th place class victory and 10th place overall. An impressive feat considering the little seat time in the BMW while competing against some of the world’s top touring car drivers.

Practice begins tomorrow and Qualifying on Friday. You can cheer Charles on by catching the race live on Eurosport, or on FIAWTCC.com.  Best of Luck to Charles in Macau!
