A reader submitted this image of Rhys Millen’s Hyundai Genesis going up in flames during Thursday practice. While a few of our staff members were at the track today we apparently missed this happening but did see the charred remains of the Redbull Hyundai Genesis on the tow truck. No word from RMR if he will be back on track tomorrow but unless the fire caused more internal damage than we saw from the pits he should be fine by qualifying tomorrow.

I was told by another team the fire came from a massive engine failure. They are at RMR doing another engine swap right now. I cannot confirm this with RMR but that seems to be what is going on now.

That motor actually lasted much longer than I thought it would. That is… if it actually blew up lol. Pretty sure that if another team gave wrecked info about the problem it most likely happened.
