Emily from Powervehicles.com, who have their office based out of Ebisu Circuit, just posted this image of how bad everything was thrown around in the Ebisu Circuit office. Emily and the PV.com staff seem to be alright from what they have said on Facebook which is fantastic. Emily did report this however, “Our garages are half way down a cliff,” which must be insanity. They have their shop based on some of the garages in-between the tracks at the famous Ebisu Circuit. *UPDATE* This second photo we just added by the Powervehicles Facebook Page showing the garages sliding down the cliff basically (center image). He has reported that his car inventory is damaged and even the track has damage done to it.
The area around the track called Fukushima was hit very hard according to Adam from 7Tune.com as we are talking while he is in Tokyo on Skype. The next town north of Ebisu Circuit called Sendai was wiped out by a tsunami.
Daijiro Yoshihara who was visiting Japan has checked in on Facebook confirming he is alright and Yukio Taira (former JIC team manager) has reported he spoke with Kenji Yaminaka who is also safe. We will try to keep everyone apprised with posts and comments in these posts with things we learn from Japan as they take place as it related to drifting.
Ahhh man….best of wishes to all the japanese ppl. I really and truely hope that they’ll get through it with being affected too badly. I hope the automotive scene wont be affected to badly too, but safety of the ppl and property should take top priority.
Thats not good at all. But glad to see everyone is safe.
Hearing reports that Fukushima just got hit by another serious earthquake… (This is the Ebisu Circuit area). Will keep my eyes peeled for more updates.
This is sad to see and hear for all of Japan. I hope everyone out that way is safe.
Having lived in Santa Cruz while the 89 quake hit during world series and it being crazy and being low 7 range??? An 8++ is pretty Knarly. Hope everyone gets through it ok. Still should have some good size aftershocks coming. Mother nature aint no joke
The devastation is just incredible but that’s the power of mother nature I guess
One of the main concerns for the Fukushima areas is the nuclear power plant that had cooling systems fail causing overheating reactors, which could lead to a meltdown exposing radiation to the area. There recently was an explosion on the plant, which did not effect the reactors. However the Japanese officials are currently evacuating areas around the plant and considering giving out iodine pills to reduce the effects of radiation.
We can only hope they can contain the crisis at the power plant so the people living in Fukashima, including the Ebisu Circuit families, can stay in the area safely to rebuild the beautiful circuit to it’s prior glory.
@Calvin Wan
Don’t you have a car stored at the track? Have you heard if it is alright?
