SHR/V-LEDs Viper Preview at Adams Motorsports Park Tonight

We’ve received a few tips that Dean Kearney will be making an appearance at Riverside’s Adams Motorsports Park tonight for some tweaking and testing of the Sam Hubinette Racing/V-LEDs Dodge Viper. A couple weeks ago we did a feature on Adams Motorsports Park, and it looks like we’ll be returning this evening to catch a glimpse of what Dean Kearney has in store for the 2011 season.

In additon to Dean’s appearance, Adams is also hosting a Tandem competition with cash prizes this evening. So if you’ve got nothing going on, make the trek out to Adams Motorsports Park tonight, it looks like it’s going to be rowdy. It’s $5 to get in ($3 if you’re wearing green, i’m told?), and $20 per session to drift.

JDM All-Stars Rips off Keep Drifting Fun x NOS Sticker Design

This image above is the new JDM All-Stars picture they posted of their “new” sticker design. They look an awful lot like the Keep Drifting Fun x NOS collaboration stickers that were made for the 2010 Formula Drift season. We posted the spread of Keep Drifting Fun stickers below from our Fun Friday giveaway we did last year. Pretty weak JDM All-Stars!

South Korean Grassroots Drifting Is Awesome [VIDEO]

South Korean Grassroots Drifting

We mine as well call Rhys Millen the house that Rhys Millen built with the number of Hyundai Genesis running around this country sliding it up at grassroots events. Due to car import taxes in South Korea it costs a pretty penny to get a non Hyundai in the country. The footage from Korea keeps showing more cars at events and a growing talent pool.

Formula Drift Has a New Judge for 2011

The world of drifting is up for a change when Long Beach kicks off next week with the addition of Canadian driver Ryan Lanteigne as the third man on the judging stand. Sadly the former Rotora driver Ernie Fixmer won’t be returning this year on the judging panel. However, Tony Angelo and Andy Yen will remain on the panel. We have seen a physical confirmation of this now and it seems like only a matter of days possibly until Formula Drift would announce it?

How do you feel about the addition of Ryan Lanteigne and his ability to perform on the judges stand with his DMCC experiences? What do you think about the departure of Ernie Fixmer as well?

D1NZ Round 5 at Pukekohe Raceway, New Zealand [GALLERY]

Pukekohe is one of the most dangerous and unforgiving tracks on the D1NZ circuit, with it’s fast sweeping turns and little runoff before it’s daunting guard rails. The fifth stop of the 2011 D1NZ circuit came to Pukekohe and once again claimed the front ends of a few of D1NZ’s drift cars, all while producing what was undoubtedly an action-packed event.

Our photographer Luke Carpenter was there to catch all the action, which included a handful of wrecks and crushed bumpers at the hands of Pukekohe Raceway’s sand pits and guard rails.

Michael Essa’s BMW Z4 Technical Building Previewed

The guys at MotoIQ dug into the BWW Z4 of Michael Essa’s and give you a full suspension and engine rundown on the car. It is looking like a great project for Michael Essa who is bringing his second BMW into the Formula Drift series this year. This did go up earlier last week and we aren’t sure how we missed this story! In case you haven’t seen it yet you should check out how immaculate this car looks. Now here is to hoping he leaves it this awesome BMW light blue color but I doubt it.

Kenny Moen’s 350z Won’t Make Long Beach – Shipping Issues

It looks like we are going to have to wait for the return of Tanner Foust’s two time championship Nissan 350z at Formula Drift. The car was bought by Kenneth “Kenny” Moen and competed over Europe over the past few years. Now with Tanner Foust retired his old car is coming to haunt our sport. Well it was coming but according to sources the car won’t be arriving or be available for Long Beach. Hopefully they don’t use the same company to bring the car to Road Atlanta for Round 2.

Ken Gushi’s 2011 Scion tC Updated – No Nintendo [SNAPSHOT]

Well apparently the last image we posted with Ken Gushi’s Scion was a daydream/pipedream/photoshop job featuring Nintendo 3DS. The guys at Beyond Marketing hooked us up with this image featuring what Ken Gushi’s Scion tC will look like this year. So this is our retraction/updated image courtesy of Scion. You can now go back to playing Xbox and forgetting Nintendo existed again. Good luck to Gushi and his Scion Racing team this season.

Tony Angelo Flips Over S14.5 in Malaysia [VIDEO]

Tony Angelo Crahses S14.5 at Speed City Malaysia

Formula Drift judge and teen hearth throb Tony “Hurricane” Angelo took a S14.5 straight into the wall and flipped her over in practice the day before competition. He ended up getting it together and running the next day after the crash and came out unharmed. Good thing for the roll cage installed in the car. Here is what Tony Angelo had to say about the event in our images of the wreck comments section found a few posts below here.

Yeah, that was a last minute replacement for the car I was supposed to drive (the car Tengku Djan took to Qatar), and the foot brake was routed to run only the front brakes, and they’d closed off the rear lines which made it pretty out of control to drive, you can see the fronts locked up real hard, and stayed that way, and it was a pretty wild ride after that!
