Driven to Drift: Season 2 Episode 7 – Toyota Speedway

The second season of Driven to Drift has come to an end with Episode 7 highlight Tanner Foust and Ken Gushi at Toyota Speedway also known as the House of Drift. Tanner Foust managed to win the whole event for the Scion Racing team while Ken Gushi secured a Top 16 finish to close out the 2010 season. Rumor has it that Tanner Foust will be in a four cylinder Scion tC similar to Ken Gushi’s for the 2011 Formula Drift season.

Gardella Racing Takes to Facebook to Talk Second Driver Program in 2011 – Who Do You Want to See?

In case you don’t follow Gardella Racing on Facebook it seems like team owner Gary Gardella has reached out to his Facebook Fans to inquire about who should drive a second car for the team in 2011 “if they have one.” An extra LS7 Pontiac Solstice in the hands of some drivers in Formula Drift sounds like our idea of a great time in 2011. I know what driver that had a poor season with another team I would like to see behind the wheel……. what driver do all of you want to see running for Gardella Racing in 2011?

Tanner Foust Entering Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series

Just when you thought Tanner Foust couldn’t be a busier man the guys at Racer are reporting he will be taking a stab at the Lucas Oil Off-Road series. He is running with teammate Brian Deegan in the Metal Mulisha/Rockstar Energy Drink trucks. “The first time I lined up on the jump, I was cruising around at slow speed learning the track on a quad. I couldn’t imagine taking those jumps at speed in a truck,” he said.

Philly.com Talks About Drifting Death That Doesn’t Add Up At All

Philly.com just ran a story about a tragic accident that killed an elderly woman early this morning. In a typical sensational journalistic fashion they took the fact that a kid had (probably stole) his parents FF Volkswagen Passat and tried to enter a turn way to fast (80mph) according to the report and crashed which resulted in an unfortunate death. Of course they drew the conclusion that this kid had watched Tokyo Drift and went out to attack the streets of Philadelphia since it’s the “Drifting has become a daredevil trend among local teens.”

It’s unfortunate that someone being stupid in a car is being chalked up to “drifting” in the mainstream media right now. Nothing about the article even presented him as doing anything other than over driving into a corner and having no hope once he turned the wheel. Thanks Bonnie L. Cook for warning us of this new hot trend which came from a movie (that came out in 2006) per your references. It’s a sanctioned sport which provides kids who have proper vehicles (not their mother’s Volkswagen Passat)  on a professional level down to a grassroots sport. Matt Petty runs a great program for beginners to advanced drivers just up the street in New Jersey which you can find out more information about at: www.clubloose.com
