Robbie Nishida Is An Off-Season Free Agent [RUMORMILL]

Over the last few weeks several team owners and other drivers in the series have mentioned to me that they have been looking at picking up Robbie Nishida for the 2011 season. He did remain in the United States we were told to speak with other teams possibly for getting on board for the 2011 season. Right now it seems like just a small buzz going around the pits but many team owners expressed interest in picking him up to me. One even told me he is a top five driver with a different program behind him.

interesting…
It’s hardly a secret. Reminds me of what happened to Tyler McQuarrie with the JIC Porsche. the car was always breaking, and he had horrible results. Enter 2009 and Team Falken, and he finishes in the top 3 with 3 podiums.
awesome hopefully he lands with a good team. always a fan of his.
I was soooo going to call this over on drifting.com, but didn’t want to start no trouble with Eddie Kim and Dynamic.
what!! thats crazy. i gotta go see whats happening at dynamic!
I hope he gets on a good team. He is a good driver and nice guy. Pretty underrated.
i think this can potentially be good for everyone. if robbie finds a good team, and i hope he does, that is great for him. but it would also give dynamic a chance to have a new driver behind the wheel of the GTR. robbie has history with dynamic/hankook, but that history started with the Z which he grew very comfortable with. things changed when dynamic took on the GTR, but i think it’s normal to experience growing pains when developing an all new platform.
bottom line is that there is always tons of new talent and maybe a pro am guy or another pro driver wil get a chance to drive the GTR, and robbie will team up with a good program that he is happy with. I really hope that in the end, whatever happens is good for both sides of the equation. i want to see both sides succeed next year.
there are probably a ton of sponsors that would be interested in supporting a GTR. the GTR is obviously a hard card to drift since the japanese blitz team ended up giving up and never competing in it professionally. for what it’s worth, i think dynamic has done a commendable job with the car. i wouldn’t expect the same types of problems next year that the car had early on this season.
PLEASE say the Daigo Saito rumours are true
@Blaze1
You are already on Ed Kims shite list so dont feel too bad, ha ha!
@S15Silvia
I doubt Daigo will join the Dynamic Hankook Team. He was offered a
drive a few years ago but after one visit to the team he got the hell
out of dodge!
There was quite a bit of discussion related to that topic on drifting,com
but after certain team owner complained the post were mysteriously removed
I do agree with Brian that Robbie is a talented individual, he was great in the Z but how can you expect a guy to advance when he has no seat time in a new chassis. He gets here from Japan and literally at the last minute they prep the car (or attempt)and expect him to do a great run..
The team is ran so poorly, the team owner is a narcissist that
wants to be in the spotlight ahead of the drivers and team.
And lets not talk about the staff, anyone remember that dirty country
guy they had in New Jersey 2 years ago?
Rumor is that Hankook is dropping them at the end of the year so
I would assume Robbie has already reached out to a few teams.
I wonder what will happen to Eric?
As always these are just my opinions so if
I think if Robbie leaves Gruppe S/Dynamic the GT-R will stay with them.
Robbie did well in the Z, the GT-R still uses the Z’s motor but the additional weight of the GT-R just throws him off probably.
If Robbie goes Free Agent next year, I see him competing in D1 in Japan more so than Formula D.
