D1GP Not Coming to the United States in 2010 – We are Not Shocked
Posted by Wrecked Magazine on 02 Aug 2010 at 02:15 pm | Tagged as: D1GP, Formula D, Major Announcements, Rumors/Gossip

D1GP USA just announced that in fact, no 2010 season will be happening this year at all. This doesn’t come as a shock to us after the unreliability of this series and it’s owners in the past. The real question I have is…. why even try to come back in 2011? You have already wasted our resources and time this season so what is the point in doing it again next year?
I am sure the D1GP PR machine is going to hop on here soon and tell you how great the new series is going to be in 2011 and how awesome the television show is but nobody here cares. Hopefully this is the final nail in the coffin to a pipe dream of Japanese fanboys that no one in America can seem to make a reality. On the bright side of things happening in American drifting we do have Formula Drift Las Vegas coming up this month and it actually will be happening.

L O L
poor mike pollard
But they said they were going to fix all that was wrong with drifting?!?!
Them not doing it fixes it
BUWHAHAHA GOOD.. Worthless Shitty Version Of Competitive Drifting -.- BIASED Judges
D1 is the best drifting in the world. I saw it on Option Video.
hahahaha. wheres pollard. i want him to eat his words.
*facepalm.jpg*
No surprise.
Wow…take it easy there chief. I’d watch Fox News if I wanted this much bias. Instead of talking shit the entire article, you could have simply stated that this was likely to happen as they did not announce the 2010 season until this summer. I for one enjoy the D1GP series when it gets a chance to make it to the states. It’s nice to see some of the japanese drivers do their thing every once in a while.
Talk about an unfair article, besides isn’t it your guy’s job to look into this? you call it waste of your time, i call it doing your job on covering this. Oh yea some people do care about D1 here, I’m not saying its the best but its still something, and as far as biased judges are concerned why don’t you look at Formula D? face it EVERYBODY is biased in their own way.
this is not the way to speak about any event especially drifting. Im tired of this nation being about baseball and just nascar. i want more motorsports events happening right in my back yard from Italian F1 racing to ATV off road to japanese drifting. dont get me wrong i love FD and XDC and even many grassroots racing out here. but be real we need more. and everyone is biased about there own ways. but be the better man and lets have more. no happy with the article at all. we should encourage them to come in fact we should be a challenge and have them want to come here not act like snobbish americans and laugh and point .
D1 Grand Prix and what is being discussed with the label D1USA in this article are two completely different things.
this whole thing has been pretty funny
I don’t want to get involved in the politics as I am sure there are plenty of different opinions about D1USA’s format. I really enjoyed seeing the different strategies and driving styles the Japaneses drivers brought to the table. Most of those same drivers don’t compete in FD.
You know, if d1 would eat a slice of humble pie, and promote an event as being just another event instead of all these ////ZOMG BIGGEST BESTEST EVaRRR!!11!, then people would give them a bit more credit. But every year, they claim that this year is different, and every year, they fail to meet expectations and they alienate even more sponsors. F those guys. D1 can eat a donkey pen0r
I agree with YOitzJDM in regards to D1USA hyping my expectations and then not coming through with the business. Here I am getting into the politics shit, I said I would not do this. That D1 name must be heavy to manage because it used to carry so much weight for so many people.
Say what you want about D1, but I learned alot at thier events. It was nice to have someone at the start line informing you how you could be better. And the fact they didn’t just stay on the coasts. Us Midwestern drivers always have to travel so far. Not bitchin’, just saying. But from a sponsor standpoint, it sucks, flakiness gives us a bad rep.
Even though I agree with what wrecked is saying, should wrecked be so biased?
Might as well throw some Japanese jokes in for icing on the cake.
the problem here isnt “biased” reporting..its that d1usa says they are coming back, then when it gets close to them pulling through, they bail. no one in the industry is surprised when d1usa cancels or whatever because they do it so much. the series in now a joke. and the jdm fanboys that keep hoping that d1 is coming back are hanging on to threads. d1USA Needs to plan everything and get things LOCKED IN FULLY before announcing that a series is going to happen. instead, they promote like crazy, without having anything locked in solid. or like this year, they plan a series halfway through the year, with ZERO CONFIRMED DRIVERS, no rule book, no venues, no sponsors, and expect people to get super excited and throw money at them.
I understand everyones point of view, and they were talking themselves up alot, but its really a bummer, because of how the formula d and xdc rulebook are, its nearly impossible for anybody on the grassroots level to compete without big sponsorship dollars. the d1 rulebook however is alittle more lax and you don’t need a v8 to be competitive.
Man they dropped the ball again what a shocker I swear ts like someone’s asleep at the wheel In that orginization and its hitting every mailbox and running over kids bikes and bigwheel cant o anything right
noahd….i severely question your comment. XDC IS a grassroots level series. there are drivers competing without big sponsorship dollars. and most of them dont have big v8′s either.
I’m not shocked at the least. I don’t think the glory days of 2004 thru 2006 is ever going to come back. I don’t even wear my D1GP shirts anymore at all. They have been left behind and they have no one to blame but themselves.
