The rookie of the year chase is being dominated by Charles Ng! The media buzz hasn’t quite been surrounding him but man he is dominating the Rookie of the Year standings in his LS6 powered Mazda Rx-7. Here is how all of the 2010 rookies stack up on the Rookie of the Year chase. Only three drivers are over the 100 point mark after four rounds and are the most realistic three to take home the victory.
1. Charles Ng (166.50 points)
2. Fredric Aasbo (134 points)
3. Dean Kearney (128 points)
4. Mad Mike Whiddett (73.25 points)
5. Dennis Mertzanis (72.75 points)
6. James Deane (61.50 points)
7. Nikolay Konstantinov (54.50 points)
8. Cyrus Martinez (48.75 point)
9. Jeff Abbott (24.25 points)
10. Andrew Picard (24.25 points)

COME’ON Dennis!
The top 4 have been doing a great job. They are showing there is a bright future for FD.
aasbo should be 1st
yea but 2 of the top three have been in what…..2 events now?imagine if aasbo or kearney competed a full season
if james would have ran every round he would be in first and everybody knows that lol
keep it on … Charles .
Mad Mike is over-rated . Hope he will do better next round .
we all believe in you . good job charles ng
dean has done every round aasbo has 2 and james deane 1
Aasbo did show up to FD irwindale… why is he considered a rookie….
Wait a minute so did Dean…
GOOO NG!!!
Cam – they were granted Rookie status because of the conditions surrounding their debut event (last minute plans, little to no track time, etc) and the dedication they were willing to commit to the 2010 season. I think it was a good call on FD’s part…
NG / Kearney / Mad Mike / ACP / Dennis M / Cyrus are all running the entire schedule.

I think it would be fair if any points scored by Aasbo or Kearney during 2009 be subtracted from their rookie of the year points for 2010. Kearney would not be phased since he did not score a point at that event. (I’m a Aasbo supporter).
Points for the season start at the beginning of the year and are carried through the end of the season. Aasbo and Kearney both jumped into the FD with invites for the last rounds. Their rookie year started in round 1 of 2010. Any points they earned last year don’t count towards the 2010 series.
