2010 Redbull World Championship – CONFIRMED and a Location
Posted by Wrecked Magazine on 01 Jul 2010 at 03:41 pm | Tagged as: Formula D, Major Announcements

It looks like Formula Drift has been calling sponsors to inform them that a 2010 Redbull World Championship is confirmed. We knew it was close to happening but finally it looks like they have a city locked down. Back in December 2009 we told you the RBWC was possibly happening on the east coast and that has come true. The city location is Atlanta, Georgia and the track might not be too far from this physical location in the photograph above. We will keep you updating on this event as the story breaks but people have been calling us today saying Formula Drift has reached out spreading the word. No date has been set but it will clearly be after Irwindale Speedway so we guess it will happen sometime after the 2010 SEMA show putting it into the November month. We are excited and cannot wait!

Damnit. I was kinda hoping it would be a bit more north than that “cough, E’Town, cough.” Much as I’d love to be there just can’t happen. Oh well. sigh
YES!!! I live right in the ATL. Can’t wait
Atlanta is epic!
Ten bucks its at turner field. that picture cuts its out to left by like ten feet….
Watching Sharky’s Machine right now, ATL is quite a popular place today.
Don’t fuck with me on this one Joey. Srs bsns.
This explains why Atlanta just passed a bill in March allowing sanctioned racing on city streets.

Atlanta will be a great venue. Rd.2 always has a huge turnout. RBWC 2010 should be a hell of a party.
They gotta schedual it before or after D1gp irwindale.
Are you talking about the D1 event that won’t happen or the one that isn’t going to happen?
hell, schedule it the same weekend at D1. not gonna happen anyhow.
This better not be at turner field.
Seriously needs to be on the streets, or in some warehouse district, or something awesome just like the long beach docks.
i am beyond excited for this. HOLY SHIT
Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t Streets of Dunwoody 2010 been planned since 2006?
Glad to see a brilliant idea come to Fruition.
Hell yeah, I hope some nice European competitors will be invited like last time! Paul Vlasblom with his family car rocked the place with a 3rd place in qualifications!
Names like Aasbo, Phil Morrison, Vlasblom, James Deane have to be there!
Another one for the East Yes!
Finally the east coast gets a big one. I will drive to ATL for this from DC.
!@W#%&*@#!!!!!! HOTLANTA YAAAAAYA!!!!
LOL @ Mike Peters
Just sayin… if any of those D1 events happen it will be the irwindale one.
Even if “D1usa” does happen, it won’t have any D1 drivers, just all the leftovers who couldn’t make the cut at FD, or XDC. Bob McCoy showing up is their only hope.
Lets all cross our fingers that an influx of teams head over from the hot euopean Drift orgs. If that can be accomplished this will be epic.
Seriously stoked. Atlanta has the best pro-drifting fans.
DM and TR get ready to scream your asses off!!!
OMMMMGGGGGG YESSSS!!!! I’m so pumped for this, i live in georgia and have was STOKEDDD to see this being held in atlanta!!!!! I’m PUMPEDD!!! Cant wait to see all the locals out!!!
this is epic all the A TOWN DRIFTERS STAND UP REPRESENT THIS IS FOR US YAL we been holding it down for the south and we finnally get a historical event brought to our city A TOWN WOOT WOOT !!!
did somebody say BOB MCCOY?
We (atl) have an awesome grassroots scene. SouthEastDrift holds several events in Atlanta.
“did somebody say BOB MCCOY?” I fucking wish.
Atlanta makes sense.
1. I is a good mid point; making it accesible to fans from throughout the East Coast and central USA.
2. It is the hub for one of the worlds largest airlines; providing direct flights to most of the countries that drivers would come from.
3. Atlanta is a known convention oriented city.
4. Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta Dragway, and SEDA are all top notch organizations with personell who can contribute to the event.
5. We have demonstrated the abillity to concistantly draw large crouds.
6. West coast ain’t the only coast. Recognize Fu!
Saint – you forgot 1 more fact….
7 – Coke HQ is in Atlanta. It would be a pretty big statement if another beverage company were to throw a huge event in Atlanta
[...] his win and Daijiro Yoshihara’s early elimination in the round. Note that we announced the 2010 Redbull World Championship is happening this year in Atlanta, Georgia which means if your out of championship contention you still want to fight to finish in the Top 16 [...]
Sweet! I’m going to make the trip from canada to check this out.
Can’t wait for updates.
sneek peek
“7 – Coke HQ is in Atlanta. It would be a pretty big statement if another beverage company were to throw a huge event in Atlanta” Yup seeing as Coke owns NOS which is the official energy drink of FD.
