James Deane Brings S15 to Tech Day – Calvin Wan’s Old Falken Ride [RUMORMILL]
Posted by Wrecked Magazine on 23 Mar 2010 at 10:26 am | Tagged as: Calvin Wan, Formula D, Rumors/Gossip

Calvin Wan’s Nissan S15 had quite a season filled with crashes and controversial runs in 2009. Looking to wipe the slate clean for 2010 Falken has apparently hired Irishman James Deane to fill the shoes of Mr. Wan in the car. Calvin was relieved of duties sometime late last year and we didn’t think much was going to come of the car but recent rumors and hints from some people have told us this is going to happen.
The car will be at tech day and our source for this information wouldn’t tell us what was changing about the car but confirmed this S15 pictured above will be at Tech Day Saturday, just not sure in what paint scheme or sponsors. We are almost 100% sure the car is running under the Falken Tire banner.

In the first sentence youve put 2010 when its meant to be 2009. Should be nice to see the car back again.
Someone needs to make good use of this car! Glad to see that it isn’t going to be retired.
James is probably one of the most naturally talented drivers out there, and deserves this more then anyone, i think FD is gonna be in for a big shock at long beach, the car was wasted with calvin wan
:O :O BEST NEWS EVER!!!
The IRISH influence is strong in Falken ! Go DMAC + JD !!
haha good to see the car will go to a driver that can make use of it…sorry CW but you had your chance…are the irsh gonna invade FD?should be interesting
I’m a fan of James but there are awesome American kids that would/could drive the crap out of that S15 (once it’s de-Calvinize).
Seems like South Park is becoming an FD reality….

For serious, until a few weeks ago I thought falken was going to sign Matt Powers for this things. Good American boy who can drive RHD.
Fixed our year error. Thanks for the heads up!
Irish influence is STRONG in Formula Drift this year!
1 – DMAC: 2006 Prodrift Irish series champ and FD rookie of the year 2007. Competed at Redbull DWC in 2008 and had a title chance throughout 2009 season until motor issues in Vegas. He will be a strong contender for FD title this year.
2 – Eric O’Sullivan – 2007 Prodrift Irish series champ and FD rookie of the year 2009. Competed at Redbull DWC in 2008 is his notorious S2000 powered AE86. Rookie of the year has had lots of improvements made to his Hankook Scooby and will be gunning for some serious typical Eric O’Sullivan consistent finishes now in his second year of FD.
- James Deane: 2008 Prodrift Irish and European Champion. Competed at Redbull DWC in 2008 and like Eric met the wall quite early on after showing some top runs early on. Switched from S14 – Mazda FD chassis with SR20DET power throughout 2009 in Prodrift so title challenges were put back as initial teading problems led to non finishes. Once the car was dialed in he finished the season with a victory in his home town event. He will be looking to challenge for Rookie of the year honors going back to a similar chassis in the S15 that brought him so much success.
3 – Dean “Karnage” Kearney – 2009 Prodrift Super Series champ and now entering his rookie season with Intec Racing in the ex Falken S14 (Hariguchi’s Long beach winning car in 2007). After a drama filled event with transmission problems at Irwindale last October he will be out for the Rookie of the year crown now that the mechanical issues has been well ironed out of the S14. Currently testing in Jpn with D1GP drivers at Ebisu with Intec Racing.
4 Paddys, 4 past and present champions.
this could be the best season of FD ever, best news iv heard all year, this lad has serious talent, best of luck james
The 4 Irish lads are gonna do Prodrift proud in FD this season… its gonna be epic!
[...] the United States this year the one who has been the quietest of the Irishmen for the new season. James Deane is in the Falken S15, Dean Kearney is in his S14, and Darren McNamara has a new look to his Saturn Sky. So with all of [...]
the PD to FD passage seems to stronger than ever. Would suggest that there really is only one Euro league of comparable quality to FD……. and its green.
Why not put Dai on the S15? After all wasn’t it his car with PacRim before Falken bought it?
Dai did great in that car with PacRim until he joined Falken and switched him over to the IS last season.
