Metal tow hooks are still legal for use in FD and XDC. Anyone can make a tow hook that will pass tech, but these tow straps are custom made and can pick a car up off the ground. Just drill a hole and bolt them to an appropriate spot on your car. There was no “deal worked out”, just the fact that tow straps are lighter and safer to use than a big metal tow hook.
