Conrad Grunewald Drifting the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro [TESTING]

Here is a snapshot of Conrad Grunewald doing some testing at Laguna Seca in his 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. NOTE that is being a great role model by not wearing his helmet in this photograph or any of the video shot. The car is powered by a LSA engine out of a Cadillac CTS-V which sounds superb. The car actually looks almost odd at this angle. I am not going to lie that I want to see this thing in action at Long Beach but judging by our 2010 poll not many others are too interested. Conrad will most certainly have some blue ovals to watch out for in 2010.
Watch a video of the car sliding: http://vimeo.com/9461771

that thing is sittin pretty and sounds hard as fuck
cant wait till the season starts.
about time we see a Camaro in FD!
its cool…i want to see some video with that car actually sideways… but its sounds awesome
I see a lot of understeer….. hmmm
I guess you don’t need a helmet in motorsports anymore.
Ya let’s see what mr. Grunewald can pull off in a more drift freindly platform from his prior c5…I was told he’s a faster(willow springs) driver than Red Bull Ace RMillen…can’t wait to see this beast time Attack b4 FD!!
As an instructor you cannot even wear a helmet, you should be ashamed Conrad.
its a big open skidpad for crying out loud! theres absolutely nothing to crash into… track would obviously be different.
and not to mention look at all those pro bmxers, skateboards, and snowboarders who ride without a helmet in videos and on tv.
Are you stupid Eric? bmxers, skateboarders, and snowboarders also don’t ride with a role cage around their head.
You cannot justify such irresponsibility regardless of the mishap. That is like saying, nothing is going to happen right now so I don’t need to (insert safety here). STUPID!
do you wear a helmet to bed…jeeesh, he is obviously not going to crash, he is just understeering

#1 Helmets are for chicks to keep their hair out of their eyes.
#2 Watch the video. Understeer is when the front end slides not the back, you guys must have gotten your ends confused.
Give me a break….
Everyone knows that, by definition, the Skippy autoX paddock has to be an extremely safe place to drive-I mean, the novices start there for a reason. The paddock is SO safe that even students are allowed to run the autoX and the skid pad without helmets.
The reason? Its a HUGE, EMPTY, space and the potential for an accident is extremely low because of the low average speeds, lack of physical obstacles, and lack of wheel-to-wheel racing.
The ‘wrecked’ crew need to recognize the difference between paddock driving, and track driving.
I can tell you, from personal experience, that Conrad would be the first guy to give you a hard time if you were stupid enough to go helmet-less on the track.
It’s unfair to question Conrad as a ‘role-model’ based on a misunderstanding.
Cheers, Conrad. Great driving as always!
Chill out people!!! The Voice of Reason is correct about Conrad. Conrad is a very respectable professional instructor who puts safety ahead of anything. It’s rather stupid to give him crap for not wearing a helmet drifting on a very slow course on the open paddock at Laguna Seca.
Do you guys have nothing else to talk about but to nitpick on helmet rules? lol
I wish Conrad, Luke, and their crew best of luck this season with the Camaro!!
I find it funny that your Blue Oval Ford Buddy JR did a Rodeo Doughnut at Irwindale with no helmet on, while sitting on the door.
Hows that for a role model?
That just happened.
1.) you people are dumb because regardless of what is going on, he is simply on a skid pad and its his own judgement to enforce his own safety, if he is comfortable enough to not wear a helmet then thats his choice get the hell of his back. Why dosent anyone every question when Keichi runs test runs in cars without helmets on BMI videos, or Kazama for that matter.
2.) how the hell can any of you tell that he is understeering from a still picture, stop trying to act cull like you know all, I think hes car is gonna put some serious heat on the rest of the field. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Grab the torches and pitchforks! I got my linchin’ rope! Haha!
Seriously though, that thing doesn’t appear to be getting much angle.
IMO he set the course up tight to see how the car would react in tight spots. big car little push in the front, definitely working on making it more nimble. Tough job with a big car. Awesome driver, good guy and crew, good luck in fd this year!
[...] out of the skid pad in the 2010 Camaro. A little update on the car from the February 16th post Conrad Grunewald Drifting the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro [TESTING] looks like they added a Hankook logo to the hood. I cannot wait to see this car at Streets of Long [...]
