D1GP Driver Atsushi Kuroi Dead at Age 40

A very sad day in the world drifting community today as D1GP Japan driver Atsushi Kuroi was killed in a motorcycle accident in Japan. From 2001 he campaigned a Nissan Silvia PS13 and a Nissan 180sx RPS13 in his history with the series. Above is a picture of his car in the pits at the 2008 Fuji Speedway event with his sponsors River Side and Toyo Tires that I took on my last visit to Japan. His greatest moment in D1 Grand Prix history was taking home a victory at Fuji Speedway in 2007 which would be the only D1 victory of his career.

So sad. R.I.P and prayers to his family. I remember the first time I saw him on speed channel, and it was my first look at real drifting.
GOD Bleess Him ….
R.I.P. the coolest driver in D1, def will be a sad year now. Really shitty
R.I.P. dude. you will be missed
R.I.P this guy was amazing…..RB26 killed it! I loved him in his yellow coupe….
I remember a few nights with him and the signal guys. RIP……..
RIP
why show a picture of his car, couldn’t find a pic of him?
COOL-ROI FOREVER!
RIP a legend and icon -to say the least.
When I first started watching JDM Option DVDs his style and finesse around the track was awe inspiring. He may have only had one victory but I always cheered him on. Plus the fact he always stuck with an S13. Stayong old school made him stand out from the crowd. He will be missed dearly. Rest in peace. Deepest condolances to his family and friends.
that sucks!! he was fun to watch
