All we really know at Wrecked Magazine is that sometime this week a big announcement will be made this week and put the mystery to rest. Until then, we are opening a poll to see if the readers have a guess at who will be replacing JTP. The comments section has been buzzing about Mad Mike Whiddett but we are quite skeptical. Some other talented Mazda drivers made our poll list which should have you thinking as well!
Calvin Wan?
bwa ha ha hahaha hah ahahaahaha
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahaahah
I could see them bringing in Mad Mike.
Calvin Wan got my vote. He really deserves a good car!
one of the many pro am dudes?
John Russakoff.
Hubert – Get Serious.
I’d like to see what Joon Maeng can do with it, but 2nd choice would be Justin Pawlak… I think I’m doing it wrong lol Matt Powers then
Calwin wan, are you for real,he doesnt need a good car he has had a good cars the last few years and never delivered, this needs a proper driver maybe an import, its a shame JTP left coz he was insane at irwindale and definetly would of been a title contender in 2010
calvin wan??? c’mon son… he had taniguchi’s s15, he didnt do anything with that…. beside place #32.
ron should drive his own car in comp and see how he does, how about that one?? he wouldnt have to pay anyone then…
im pretty sure its no one on the list haha
I think that would be a downgrade for Mad Mike. Unless of course he brings RedBull with him.
All-American Bob McCoy.
So, how about this for a poll question, could ANY of the dudes on this list going to perform better than JTP did in this car????
YES?
NO? X
yes.
no.X
pee pee length
i vote no….
but beside all that forget this burgenholtz circus anyway….
what you need to do is a feature on pawlak and his fc and the improvements that have been made in the fc’s absense. show us what is going to make thisa potent combination for 2010. show us where the real talent for that rx-8 was, put the spotlight where it needs to be for a change, JTP.
I will give Calvan Wan a vote here… although if they move in that direction. I hope he doesn’t biff this car like every other car put in his hands.
I will give him a pass on the Falken S15 because it’s not easy moving from lhd to rhd…
I have a buddy who has an rhd s14 and said he will never drift another lhd car again, because he’s just trained to counter-steer with his right hand now.
And then there is Roadster Drift Rob who sold his s15 for a lhd s13 because he didn’t feel too comfortable drifting the s15. Although he actually did it well.
calvin wan has driven many cars that were RHD and he sucked in all of them
I’m no RHD expert, but it shouldn’t take you more than an hour or so of seat time to get used to it.
I’ve got less than maybe 20 minutes of seat time in RHD cars and I can do it mediocre well, my biggest flaw was finding the shifter/ebrake. I’m not gonna knock on calvin here, but I was less than impressed with what I saw him do in IMO one of the best prepped S-Chassis ever.
x2 on what Lex said.
The rx-8 was a nice car, but JTP is what made it exciting to watch. lets see what improvments have been to the FC.
W/ the fc and all the pro am cars, this year is going to be full of style.
I’m thinking of Joon Maeng. He;s been a privateer for too long. that kid’s got a lot of talent and experience. The other drivers in the list are bleh. We don’t need Wan breaking another car. Mad Mike should be defending his NZ title. Matt Powers is still unknown. And Mohan is still with mazdatrix. Why would he leave his own KMR?
Whoever gets the spot won’t be like JTP. I saw footage of him slide that RX-8 and it was like the two became one. Absolutely great together.
As for what Mike Peters said about Wan’s S15 being the best prepped S-chassis. It’s really just plain great. But not the best. The same car used by Kazama and not by Imamura is the best S15 and S chassis ever! IMO
TAKA AONO
or
TOMMY SUELL
you guys must be retarted.
There not going to downgrade and upgrading from JTP is going to be hard.
come on…….matt powers? kyle mohan? joon? calvin Wan? seriously guys.
Mandatory Safety Meeting!
Tony Angelo???? lol
wow you guys will be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo surprised!!!!!!! hehehe
Hubinette? Is that Viper dead yet?
a birdie in a tree told me that the driver is one of the names in this thread.
i guess bergenholtz is going to reveal the truth on Thursday
Tony Angelo would be soooo rad… nice safe choice right there.
Straight from the horses mouth…read this from top to bottom and if you have an IQ greater than CAM’s you should be able to put 2+2 together and know it’s “MAD MIKE!” duh. http://www.drifting.com/forums/general-chat-drifting-discussion-news-and-site-updates/28235-speculation-mad-mike-formula-d-long-beach-april-9th-10th-2010-a.html#post236387
heather…
i kinda got the mad mike rumor going
http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/blog/2010/01/20/justin-pawlak-leaves-bergenholtz-racing-after-top-10-finish-in-2009/
now put 2 and 2 together lol
it aint mad mike, but it WILL make you MAD when you hear who it is…… ps, yes it is a named person in this thread. if he believes in karma, this definitely sets him up for some bad vibes.
hahahhaha you gotta be shittin me!!!!!
Process of elimination:
Kyle Mohan: He already has his own RX-8 and drifting program.
Calvin Wan: Had a rough season last year.
Joon Maeng: Apperently, the nicest guy in drifting. Taking over driver duties in the place of a dropped friend doesn’t seem very nice. He’s a 240 guy.
Matt Powers: ^Same deal as above with the friend thing. I’d hope Falken would’ve picked him up already. He’s a 240 guy too.
Mad Mike: He’s all over the world participating in/winning championships. Makes the most sense.
Just my .02
However, Mad Mike already has his own RX-8 and drifting program like Kyle Mohan…. I’m sure Sam Hubinette is looking for backing since being dropped by Mopar….
Ok, I’ll shut up now.
MILANO
MILANO
MILANO!!!!!!!!!!
ROFL!!!!!
That would be a….SHOCKER!!!!
lex King – Spill the beans!
THIS HAS MY PANTIES MORE WET IN ANTICIPATION THAN THE APPLE ANNOUNCEMENT THIS WEEK. FUCK!
I think they should go with TONY ANGELO! A real drift superstar!
@ FD fan, i will let the news unfold on its own. only 2 more days till the release of the info i guess, but chubby chaser hit the nail on the head.
Wow Sam Hubinette in an RX-8?
Interesting.
If sam is driving what’ll happen to the old vipers?
i want one. I love mine on Forza.
Samuel won’t be driving a Mazda..
Barack Obama said there would be change.
Looks like Joon Maeng will be the pilot of the BR RX-8. Reliable source. Real bummer actually.
Good job JOON … over the years its been awesome to watch the growth in you’re tandem skills. Good luck to both parties!
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH, I thought TA was gonna get the dizzle!
It’s going to be Ryan Hampton
