Did We Witness the Passing of a Torch at Scion!?

Tanner Foust had what could quite possibly called the worst drifting event of his life. He managed to spin on both qualifying runs and not make the Top 32 show this weekend. This was one of the biggest stories/buzz of the weekend as no one could believe what they just witnessed. If this was not a big enough story on it’s own we also watched Ken Gushi in the other Scion tC qualify in 1st place.
Ken and that Scion have struggled for some time in the past but these guys were on top of the show this weekend. In fact, Ken Gushi hadn’t looked this solid on a course since Houston 2005 dare I say. At that event back in Houston he took home a victory in his Ford Mustang. If this Ken Gushi is back then many people better watch out as the season ticks on. He just missed the podium after losing to Tyler McQuarrie in the 3rd place run and ended up with a respectable finish for the evening.
Have we seen a passing of the torch under the Scion teams? Only time will tell but these two drivers I would keep an eye on at Formula D Las Vegas. I know Tanner Foust and he is one of the most competitive guys I have ever met so you can bet the next four weeks for him are going to be focusing, practicing, and prepping for Round 4 of Formula D. When I talked to Ken Gushi after the race he credited this new found mesh and vibe from a year and a half of team bonding, hard work, and finally just “getting it” with the car and team. 2009 has been more interesting than anyone could of imagined and Round 4 will put us past the halfway mark in the City of Sin which is only weeks away. With everything we said aside, let’s not forget that Round 2 of Formula Drift saw Ken Gushi eliminate Tanner Foust in top 32.

Tanner still has been more consistent… I’d just call it an off day. Everyone has their off days, Tanner hasn’t had one in 3 years. It just shows he’s human.
Tanner still has a podium, 2 of his qualification scores were top 3…
Not many people remember that the day Tanner scored a perfect 100, he spun on his other run. ish happens.
It’s not just one time, it’s two rounds of this season. Ken Gushi defeated Tanner Foust in the top 32. I am just interested to see how the season plays out for the Scion Team.
[...] I wrote an article that many of you didn’t take seriously called “Did We Witness the Passing of a Torch?” where I said Tanner Foust was the lead man on the Scion team. Right after that Tanner Foust [...]
