Colin Frost provided us some pictures of the Lexus IS350 he will be piloting in the 2009 Formula D series. He told us that while he has been focusing on the S13 recently they are going to start working hard on the Lexus very soon. He promised to keep us updated as the progression of his new project will move forward. So stay tuned to Wrecked Magazine!

Apparently someones daddy works for toyota/lexus… This will end in disaster and another manufacture will be turned off to drifting. Why do these manufactures not do more research and find out who actually has a FD License and who can actually pull off real manufacture deal?
Oh… wait… read line one.
Dude seriously stfu
Colin has been working with Toyota for a long while now. Those pictures in certain magazines with the blue ISF drifting… its him.
Toyota/Lexus understand this situation… and for some reason I think that it isn’t a full factory back deal from lexus.
Toyota/Scion already has 2 fully back teams in the series now.
Cam- thanks, I appreciate it
Does it matter- let me clear some things up for you:
-My dad works for a paint company
-My mom works for the Calstate university system
-My brother works for a video game company
That said, the only way to get bigger sponsorships is to know people.. and THAT said, even finding contacts won’t get you the deal unless you have something to back it up with. If you’d like to see a copy of my proposal, please feel free to email me colin@cfrostracing.com –I’d be more than happy to send it to you.
And to answer your question, yes it does matter.
Why? Because I came up through drifting. When I was 16 I went out to California Speedway on my worked-at-the-movies paycheck and drifted on used tires in a stock GTS. Many of the big time pro FD guys you see now are racers-turned-drifters, as a drifter it means a lot to see Justin Pawlak on the podium at Irwindale because he came UP as a drifter. Seeing Pat Mordaunt qualify first in WA means a lot because he came UP as a drifter. Regardless of sponsors, car setup, support, etc.. these guys came up as part of the drifting community. It means a lot more to me as a drifter (not a racecar driver) to see these guys, my friends, coming up and doing well because they’re drifters and they have heart. Because they’re in it because they love it. It’s a lot harder to do things that way.
That said I have nothing against the racers-turned-drifters, the more drivers and teams the better in my eyes. BUT I do want to make it clear that this was a big deal for me because I worked a long time for it and still have a long road ahead.
No hard feelings to you or your reply, I worked for this, I just want to make the situation and history clear.
Again, feel free to email me colin@cfrostracing.com if you feel the need
Colin, I personally know that you worked your ass of to get to this point in your career and I am so excited for you. I believe in your talent and your understanding of what it takes to be successful in drifting. I wish you the best of luck and can only say that I am so proud of you man!
PS – the car looks nice. Can’t wait to see how it progresses and becomes a serious drift machine.
How can anyone hate on Colin Frost?
He’s like the nicest guy in drifting ever besides Joon.
Someone’s got a case of the wannabe’s.
Honestly. I see 289050821745987123 drifters doing it for the wrong reasons… or dudes i feel “dont belong”
On any given FD weekend you see tons of dudes who have peaked and are has beens.. they still show up and compete and some of them still have real sponsors (how many times can you flip a car and still get a new one built).Colin definitely deserves what he gets.. stay strong young buck!
Congrats man.
You deserved this after all your hard work and extra effort you put into this sport. Glad to see a great person with a great attitude get ahead every now and then.
So once again, from me and the rest of Rosenburg motors…Congrats :]
