Rumors flair about D1GP’s “2009 Season”

Result: No one cares.
We have been blown up at the PM Lifestyle Office with calls about this huge alliance and big D1 Grand Prix season for 2009. It’s just more hype, smoke, and mirrors coming from this camp. They blamed Formula D for canceling it’s All-Star event which made about ZERO sense. Just because they can fool magazines like Stupid Street to do interviews with their new “sheriff in town” doesn’t mean anyone in the Drifting community buys they are back again for the third time. We have even heard Richard Goodwin’s name thrown into the frey of people running things on the back end. a A quick google search will show you he is an old founder of Hot Import Nights. This sums up how we feel about the situation. Our parents always told us to stick to what we are good at so we offer the same suggestion to D1.
Things D1GP is good at: Throwing events in Japan
Things D1GP isn’t good at: Throwing events in the United States of America
Just food for thought.

Oh please! I hope it is as good as their last seasons…..
OH WAIT! They have all been canceled.
Ok Ok! I ‘d personally love to see them back. 2-3 Events, Hell yeah! Keep us all entertained. But a series??? OH HELLLZ NO! And if Richard’s not japanese…betta watch out man! Look what happened to good ol Mike Mucklin. Im sure it’s just a matter of time until he gives up on the Ol Japanese biz ethics. In drifting that is.
D1 – we swear we’re doing something big soon! stay tuned!
If I had a dollar for every sponsor who invested in D1 here in the US and got burned, I’d have enough money to run my own series. Every year at SEMA they publish a ‘tentative season schedule’ and every year they cancel it. It’s like the boy who cried wolf, after enough cries, nobody believes them.
I hope D1 never comes back. Good Riddance. Thanks for the memories, but we don’t need you.
I can personally attest to the D1 style of ethics… or lack thereof. They hosed my company and didn’t even give a courtesy reach around.
We all love the drivers from D1 but I also see that we are all tired of their bullshit style of biz.
And it shows true even now. They complain about the Red Bull World Championships being scheduled very close to their phantom date for the Irwindale event. Ridiculous.
At least when FD says they are going to do something… they do it. I am glad that we have our own series in the USA and I am tired of the “cool guy” drifters that just swing from Japan’s nuts. Enough is enough.
Hmmm who is worse? NOPI or D1?
Not sure!
Hey Terry how’s Drift buffet going?………….I want to come back for some Chicken fried bullshit and an extra helping of mashed po-LAME-oes! D1 drivers > FD drivers
Ok..we can give it to the great white hope(JR) but ask yourself this question? Why has he not won a podium in FD? JR fits the D1 mold! Great drivers! FD doesn’t give recognition to excitement! They like tailored lines and bland style!
Maybe D1 and NOPI should merge….. DOPI 1
Flag Girl would be Snow White and the Course workers could be the 7 Dwarfs!
D1 will be back, best too believe…. we don’t need a season but we do need 2 or 3 events.
-1 for wrecked for posting such a biased article.
It’s more of a story about reality than a story about bias. Every year they claim a season and it never gets done…..That has happened, it’s called reality.
“Result: No one cares. ”
“Just because they can fool magazines like Stupid Street”
“This sums up how we feel about the situation.”
Come on now, if this isn’t biased…..
Even poking fun at other magazines.
Grow up guys, this is unprofessional. I thought this was the news.
hey what happened to all the hub bub from D1… did they already cancel the new and improved 09 US series….
