Formula D Long Beach kicked off today with the first runs and qualifying of the season. It went great for some and not so well for others. Ken Gushi broke in the first practice of the day but is said to return for Saturday. Many drivers fell victim to the turn one wall all day as well. Check out the gallery here Click here for gallery.

At Falken’s Shakedown/Test Day we found Seigo’s car re wrapped looking fantastic. Ross Petty’s S13 is lighter, faster, and sexier on white wheels. It looks like the whole team has gone to Motec for engine management. Darren has his Saturn Sky ready to go and it sounds sick. Also note that Darren’s Sky has been converted to right hand drive.
Well we rushed from LAX to the track and got a great sneak peak of Daijiro’s reborn LS7 GTO, Tanner Foust’s newly wrapped 350z and the new look on Sam Hubinette’s car! I would say the most exciting thing we found is Hampsha’s Gardella Racing Mobil 1 Pontiac Solstice. Check out the photos in our gallery by Clicking Here!
A rumor we have heard is this car was seen being loaded up and headed to Long Beach with Bill Sherman’s name on it!? This would be exciting and great news for Bill Sherman. We are looking forward to being able to see him competing if this story turns out to be true. We shall see in the new few days. We know the team owner of the car is not Enjuku Racing but we are unclear who/what is exactly going on with the team.
We think we know the winners but we are not sure and here is why:
Juan Henao was deemed at a loss at one point to Zolton but then it was announced after a driver’s meeting and a protest he was able to come back in and he managed to finish in 3rd place. Blake Fuller was looking good but DQ’d for Drifting next to someone until he was eliminated for Drifting to close to someone during a top 16 tandem battle ? The media got ushered off the track at one point? Our team of reporters told us that fines were issued and more calls were mistaken and wrongly done throughout the weekend. Our team that was left to report on the event was really almost confused at who won and how things were determined. For the final four Brian Wilkerson was sent out instead of the “one more time” driver and then it was recalled and something else was continued? Below is the top 3 for the weekend or so we think?

NOPI Miami kicked off with some perfect weather yesterday and some great Drifting from the drivers in attendance. A great start to the 2008 season down south with plenty of drivers looking like they are armed for competition! Two R32 Skyline’s were driven by Atlanta’s Tiger Racing and CSI Racing even brought out their new Drifting project with a Pontiac Solstice. I know this is another post about Rogue Status here but I just caught that Rob Dyrdek is planning to kick off Formula D this season in the Rogue Stauts 1969 Camaro reports Hypebeast. This Long Beach weekend is looking to get crazier by the minute. Stay tuned.
